[edit] College
In his freshman year, Williams would have an immediate impact. Coming off the bench in 30 games, Williams hit 41.8 percent of his 3-point attempts that season, averaging 6.3 points per game.
Williams would become a starter in his sophomore season at shooting guard, appearing and starting in 34 games with averages of 12.4 points and 3.4 assists per game.
In his junior year, Williams moved to the starting point guard position and started all 33 games he appeared in. Williams would earn a spot on the All Big East Third Team with averages of 15.9 points and 4.1 assists per game. However, in mid-season, Williams was moved back to shooting guard because of turnover problems.[1]
On top of that, a rift developed between him and Preston Shumpert on the court, and Williams began to run into trouble away from it. In March 2002. Williams was charged with driving while intoxicated. He was eventually convicted of driving while ability impaired, although he missed three games.[2]
Immediately following his junior year, trouble would find Williams again. In May 2002. Williams was involved in a fight at an off-campus bar. Although Williams was eventually cleared of assault charges by a city court jury, Williams would be dismissed from Syracuse University on July 24, 2002 because of academic problems.[3] It was reported that Williams had fallen asleep during a part of the trial.[4]
Williams transferred to Iona after being dismissed from Syracuse. After sitting out the 2002-03 season as per NCAA regulations, Williams got off to a promising start in the 2003-04 season with the Gaels, averaging 14.8 points and 5.1 rebounds in the team's first 21 games. However, Williams would once again be suspended from play for failing to attend to academic and athletic-related issues.[5] This would end his rocky college career.
[edit] Professional career
Williams was taken with the sixth pick of the second round (17th overall) by the Adirondack Wildcats.[6] In the 2006-07 season, Williams played for the Brooklyn Wonders of the American Basketball Association.[7][8]
