[edit] Welcome to Wikipedia/party entries

Derrall,

Thanks for your additions to the PC/PC list pages.

Our general policy is to have a single biographical entry for candidates who've run in more than one election, usually on the most recent page. I'm going to redirect the information from the 2000 page to 2004 accordingly. This isn't meant as a hostile act, it's just in keeping with Wikipeda practice.

Are you running again now? If so, I could create a 2006 list page for PC candidates, and put the information there. CJCurrie 00:54, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

Addendum: I didn't realize you had created your own page. This could pose a problem -- general Wikipedia policy is not to allow pages for defeated candidates that are deemed to have been "minor" (these are seen as vanity pages). I realize that running for the Progressive Conservative Party in 2000 markes a credible claim for notability, but it may not be sufficient -- other unsuccessful PC candidates have generally appeared on list pages, rather than being given their own articles.

You may wish to consider the following course of action:

i) Shift the biographical entry to the 2004 PC page. ii) Move your picture (and some other biographical information) to the User:Derrall page.

Once again, I don't mean any of this to be hostile -- it simply a means of ensuring you're aware of Wikipedia policy and practice. CJCurrie 01:01, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

If I understand suggestions ii properly, I could still be listed as a candidate under the 2 general elections and maintain bio info on my user page? That is do-able. I was struggling with making the category link to the 2 different candidate listings. Is that something that you could help with?

As for the previous question, no, I am not a candidate this time out. There maybe another time in the future.

thanx, Derrall

That's basically what I meant, though I'd also recommend your biographical summary be included on the most recent electoral list page (which could link directly to your user page, as well). I'm not really certain what you mean vis-a-vis the category link, though I'll have a look at this. CJCurrie 01:14, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

I've now shifted the bio to the 2004 page, as well as starting your user page (which you can change or personalize as you choose). If you disagree with anything I've done, let me know and it can be corrected. CJCurrie 01:34, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
