[edit] Category:Uncategorized templates
Thanks for drawing my attention to this category via your recent work replacing {{categoryneeded}} with it! Regards, David Kernow (talk) 06:24, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Dirichlet prime
I just checked with a mathematics PhD and she knew of Dirichlet's prime theory right off the top of her head. I also found references to it from Harvard on the 1st page of a Google search. I suggest withdrawing your nomination for deletion. Rklawton 01:39, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] All xxx articles
Hi, what are they useful for? Some of them I created, and the only reason was to simplify counting. The drawback is it doubles the number of reader irrelevant cats on an article. Rich Farmbrough, 21:56 13 December 2006 (GMT).
- Sometimes related articles have a distinct initial substring in their names (for example, articles about United States Navy ships have names beginning with "USS"), and then it's much easier to look for them in one single category than in multiple monthly (or daily) categories. --Derlay 00:05, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, good point! Rich Farmbrough, 16:34 14 December 2006 (GMT).
[edit] noinclude
I noticed you put something I added inside a "noinclude" block. Can you please explain what this does? I don't think the page looks as good the way it's now formatted. Is there a place here where I can read about noinclude? If you direct me to such a page, please put the name in a Wikipedia:long-topic-spelled-out-format rather than as something like WP:LTSOF. Thanks. RSLitman 04:33, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your response on my Talk page. I still have a couple of issues. First, my explanation of what AfD stands for is on the Template:AfD in 3 steps page, not on the Wikipedia:Articles for Deletion page, so any explanations on the latter page don't do any good when the former is being displayed.
- Second, the explanation of noinclude and includeonly on the page Help:Template#Noinclude and includeonly is totally incomprehensible (or is it uncomprehensible) to me. Please bear in mind that I am not yet a Wikipedia power user, and I have absolutely no idea whatsoever what is meant by "page is being viewed directly" and under what circumstances a page will not be "viewed directly". All I know is that I feel justified in wanting a spelling out of AfD to appear at the top of Template:AfD in 3 steps every time someone lands on the page, whether it's directly or not directly (whatever those terms mean), because even after about six weeks as a Wikipedia user, I still don't have all of those "xfD" abbreviations sorted out. And all non-power Wikipedia users deserve this information. RSLitman 04:08, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks
Hey, I was going through my user page history and saw that you had reverted an instance of vandalism. I was on a semi-wikibreak then, and thats why it must have missed my attention. Even though its a bit late now, I dropped by to say a thank you. :) --soum (0_o) 19:57, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] International Space Station
Sorry, looks like I got confused there. I'll try to be more careful. Atrian 22:20, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] question on Mali Empire page
Hi ;) i was curious as to why you removed the pictures from the Mali Empire page for the infantry and cavalry. I thought they were very valuable additions. Is there some sort of copyright violation or something on the pics? i didn't bother to revert your edit cuz im sure you probably have a good reason and seeing how ur part of a lot important groups on here. please hit me back ASAP so something can be worked out for that page. Thnx in advance...Scott Free 20:57, 18 August 2007 (UTC) :)
- Those images (Image:Malian Archer.jpg and Image:Mali Equestrian.jpg) were among a bunch that were licensed under the long-since deleted Template:Smithsonian (see Wikipedia:Templates for deletion/Log/2007 May 2 for discussion of its deletion). Since Wikipedia requires that every image has a valid license, which a deleted template clearly isn't, I tagged the images with the "no license" template. I have no objection if you can come up with an acceptable license, though. --Derlay 23:07, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thnx for clearing that up. Next time, could ur respond on my talk page tho so i know when u respond. thnx for adding the pics back even if only temporary. hopefully some1 can find a solution to this problem. i`ll see what i can do. thnx again.Scott Free 20:51, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Village Pump post
I saw your post on the technical Village Pump regarding WP:CSD#G8 nominees. Generating a list would probably be possible via the toolserver, however, it doesn't make any sense to have users tag the pages individually. There are most likely thousands of pages that meet the criterion and the (useless) tagging would only create more database rows. Currently, there is a tool on the toolserver that lists short pages (it's incredibly how many talk pages contain the word "hi"), however, once again, it's not necessary to tag these pages for CSD. I'm currently working on ridding the site of a good chunk of them (my deletion log is available here). After I'm finished with the short pages, I plan to move on to the WP:CSD#G8 qualifiers. I hope that clarifies matters. Cheers. --MZMcBride 03:16, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Unauthorised removal of afd tag
Why did you remove the tag afd from Miss Fantasia Preaches article? This is contrary to what is policy per the quotation:
This article is being considered for deletion in accordance with Wikipedia's deletion policy. Please share your thoughts on the matter at this article's entry on the Articles for deletion page. Feel free to edit the article, but the article must not be blanked, and this notice must not be removed, until the discussion is closed. For more information, particularly on merging or moving the article during the discussion, read the guide to deletion
Please discuss why the article should be a valid entry. It loooks entirely promotional of a band. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.46.160.102 (talk) 23:31, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
