[edit] Christie
Thanks for your ratings for the Christie play pages - almost all of those pages being "under construction" and your excellent feedback and comments have been noted. As regards the summary for Alibi being perhaps too long, I think it's very hard to abridge Christie material (your superb summary for The Hollow proves that!) and if ever I find myself wondering if I am being too verbose, I just remember the Wikpipedia rule - quoted above - to "be bold"!! Please keep the comments and contributions coming. It's great to get feedback and not type away in a vacuum!--Jtomlin1uk (talk) 19:22, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
- Many thanks for your latest comment! I'm trying to get further material together for other Christie play pages, especially "Towards Zero" and "Go Back for Murder" which don't have pages yet and expand some of the other pages. I've found further sources for contemporary reviews of the other plays (including "The Hollow") so it's just a matter of getting the relevant journals out next time I'm at the British Library and getting appropriate quotes. I've also obtained a copy of Herbert Gregg's slightly vituperative memoirs so I can add to the play pages where he was the director. Please keep me posted of your views through the ratings and I will amend/add/delete as appropriate - it's nice to get the peer review!--Jtomlin1uk (talk) 15:11, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
Derek,
I see that you've just added Alibi to the list of Christie plays. I've deliberately not done this in the past (and reversed it when someone else did) for the simple reason that Christie did not write the play. My judgement is that if we go down the route of "written by...based on Christie's..." then we end up with a template as big as the introduction page! The alternative is that we add a section to the end of the template for plays/books by other authors based on her works. Before I wade in and reverse what you've done, I'd like to discuss. Cheers.--Jtomlin1uk (talk) 19:13, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
Cheers! All the best, John--Jtomlin1uk (talk) 20:04, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Barnstar!
Wow! I've seen a few other people's pages where they'd been awarded barnstars and wondered what you had to do to get one - you well and truly have made my day! Thank you so much!--Jtomlin1uk (talk) 22:08, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
The WikiProject Theatre Newsletter |
The WikiProject Theatre Newsletter!
Issue 4 - June, 2008
|
- Collaboration of The Month
Yet again this month's COTM has remained unchanged as no-one has nominated any articles to become the new incumbent. Please can someone get down to the COTM page and nominate an article for next month!
- Assessment
The ongoing task of assesing the articles at the Assessment page continues - if you're feeling a little lost and don't know where to begin to help us out, head on down to the Assessment page and give us a hand.
- New members
The past month has seen Canadian Scouter, Carole Higgins, Gonzalo84 and Kiwiboy121 join us - welcome to you all!
If you've been editing a theatre-related article recently and noticed another user helping you who also appears to have an interest for the subject of theatre, why not drop them a line and invite them over to the project?
- HELP!
As mentioned in previous newsletters, we're crying out for people to help us out wherever possible. We are currently looking for members to volunteer to give us a hand in several areas. If you can do any of the following, please drop us a line at the talk page:
- Newsletter Editor(s) - Always fancied yourself as a bit of a journalist? Perhaps you could help us write this newsletter - it doesn't take long to compile. Maybe you'd like to help but can't commit on a regular basis? In that case, why not rally round a few other members of the project to help you out and take it in turns each month to compose the newsletter?
- Mailmen/women - If writing the newsletter isn't your bag then maybe you could help in the distribution of this fine document? As our membership grows it becomes quite labourious to send it to everyone. It's only a quick task that needs doing once a month, and really is just a case of copying and pasting a template onto our members talk pages.
- Portal editor(s) - It's come to our attention that the Theatre Portal hasn't been updated in a long time and we'd like to get someone, or a group of people to take charge of it and get it up to the standard of some of the great portals out there (e.g. the Comedy Portal, the Solar System Portal etc).
- And finally...
Don't forget to add the WikiProject Theatre userbox to your userpage to spread the word about the project!
