[edit] Linfield College
I replied on my talk page. So who's your SAR ancestor? I qualify for DAR, but I'm not sure they'd want to have me. :) (and I'm too lazy to get the paperwork together) Katr67 14:01, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

- Once an article is no longer a Stub, per Wikipedia:Stub the tags should be removed. Not to mention only one of the ones was even applicable since the Western US is a sub of the other two. As in only the most relevant ones would be placed in the article, for instance western US university and Oregon school stubs, not three university stubs and four oregon stubs. But again, once an article is no longer a stub, the tags are removed. For further info on classifiaction see the links in the WikiProject banner located on the talk page. - Great work on improving the Linfield and Linfield related articles. I will suggest though that you add some reliable sources that are indpendent of the subject. That is, no linfield.edu or a history book likely published by the school. Those are good sources to use, but to establish the notability of the newspaper and any other articles there needs to be third party sources. Without the third party/independent sources notability is not established, and that is the main reason for why articles are deleted. Good sources would be The Oregonian, Willamette Week, the McMinville newspaper, magazine coverage such as US News & World Report, etc. Again, good work so far. [edit] Northwest Conference
Yes, the numbers are total enrollment, which is consistend with the member tables found on pretty much all of the atheltic conference articles (Divisions I through III). Also, grad students CAN play NCAA sports, not just undergrads. There are a number of players in a fourth or fifth year of eligibility that are taking graduate courses in order to continue with their sports. Thanks. - Masonpatriot 14:29, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image on List of crossings of the Danube River
Regarding List of crossings of the Danube River, maybe you should set up a map at the top as an image map. (The latest Signpost has a good tutorial.) You could link each country and region to the relevant section of the list. (I don't think you need to go down to the level of each crossing.) It'd be fiddly, but it might work out to be really slick. Bovlb (talk) 17:18, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- Okay thanks! There is another user who has offered to bring in this cool format, too. I think it would work really well and Ill definitely use that tutorial. --DerRichter (talk) 22:38, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- I'm curious who that might be. I expect User:Polaron or User:VerruckteDan. Anyway, I resumed attacking this tonight. I'm testing it in my scratch, but I will likely replace the article as I make progress. That way others can continue the conversion and make corrections where I misunderstood something, which I expect will happen a lot since I don't know the geography or the language. - Denimadept (talk) 04:29, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Thanks
- You're quite welcome. I think I actually may have misspoken somewhat - in some rare cases, pages are deleted and then redirected, but usually in those cases the original page is complete vandalism or has absolutely nothing useful aside from the title. In general, though, we try to save whatever we can. Although in this case it was a little bit difficult. Hersfold (t/a/c) 14:55, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Rvv? Huh? I'd appreciate a comment.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 15:27, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry to offend if I did so. I figured the page for Russia says it is a republic, so why was it removed from this article and not others? I'm not really preferential about whether it is or not, but if you don't think it is a republic, that is fine, but then maybe be removed from the Russia article too. --DerRichter (talk) 21:13, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- Well, Russia is a republic alright, so you are technically correct. The problem, however, is that the term "Russian Republic" is hardly ever applied to modern (post-1991) Russia (usually the terms "Russia" or "Russian Federation" are used). "Russian Republic" is normally used when referring to Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, especially in its early years. Hope it helps. I myself should have probably been more specific in my edit summary. Cheers,—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 21:32, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Barnstar
Thank you. :) To be entirely honest, I found AL's comment to be rather ... random. Neither you (juding from your user page and contributions history) nor I have any real involvement with articles related to Arab countries, so the claim about "anti-Arabs living within the Arab world" struck me as being quite odd. In any case, I hope AL will provide more information about the Hanseatic template he mentioned (if it is {{Hanseatic League}} to which he is referring, then I don't think it is an apt comparison) and the concept of "Arab Capitals of Culture" (I assume it's similar to European Capital of Culture), and how they justify the grouping of the 50 largest cities. Thanks again, Black Falcon (Talk) 06:30, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Magic Johnson has been chosen to be our very first Collaboration of the Month article. Although this is article is already a Good Article, it still can be improved. The goal is to improve this article by the end of May so that it can be nominated for Featured Article status. In particular, free-use images should be found for the article, all Manual of Style guidelines should be followed, and a neutral point of view should be maintained throughout the article. If there is anything you can do to improve the article, then please help out. |

[edit] Starfire Sports
Re your recent edit - the reason I originally didn't cite the specific number was that I didn't know if it was still correct (since it was from 2004). While "handful" is admittedly pretty vague, I try to avoid using numbers subject to change without some qualification. Unless you plan to monitor and keep the number current I would suggest using "as of" or some such. Offhand I can't really come up with a good alternative without getting too wordy. Gr8white (talk) 21:35, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- Okay yea that makes sense. I like how you wrote it. I just didn't want a vague number but the date is pretty important too. Thanks --DerRichter (talk) 18:48, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] John Kitzhaber
The only reason there is not much on pre-gov is because no one has taken the time to add it. There should be lots of info out there, after all he spent a fair amount of time in the legislature and was Prez of the Senate. Feel free to add some, otherwise we will eventually get to it (only a couple gov articles are any good right now). Aboutmovies (talk) 07:47, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- Okay I may work to improve it a bit throughout this summer. It just seems like he doesn't get much credit in the article. --DerRichter (talk) 05:56, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Pin the Tail on the Donkey
In the AfD discussion, you said you had never heard of the game, but don't you do research on a topic before you nominate it for deletion? Google lists many published books that discuss the subject. Viriditas (talk) 07:29, 29 May 2008 (UTC) WP:IDONTKNOWIT is not a valid reason to start a deletion debate. I hope this is an isolated incident from your numerous AFD nominations. 75.66.233.162 (talk) 17:15, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- Okay well I didn't know that someone reading wikipedia would have to do additional research to verify a topic. I thought it would be easier to have an encyclopedia where people can rely on the sources provided in the article. To 75.66.233.162, I look forward to your contributions in fixing this (at the time completely unsourced) article. Thanks. --DerRichter (talk) 05:57, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Last month's Collaboration of the Month, Magic Johnson was a great success. A total of 560 edits were made to the article during the month of May, and the article was eventually nominated as a Featured Article Candidate. Although the article was not promoted, it was significantly improved through the work of many editors. This month's Collaboration of the Month is Steve Nash. Although this is article is already a Good Article, it still can be improved. In particular, all prose should conform to Featured Article standards, all statements should be verified, and the text should be in a neutral point of view. If there is anything you can do to improve the article, then please help out.
The Collaborator of the Month is given to the editor with the most number of substantial, beneficial edits to the article chosen as the Collaboration of the Month. This month's Collaborator of the Month award goes to Chensiyuan (talk · contribs). Although he had previously helped Magic Johnson to became a Good article, he made literally hundreds of edits during the month of May. For his contributions, he is rewarded with the NBA Collaborator of the Month Award. However, all beneficial edits made by any editor was a help. I am a little slow putting them back, as upon undeleting the template was changed by moving the parameters around. Therefore it is not a question of simply reverting the bot. Anyway it is not fully over yet - after the DRV it was relisted at TFD. Agathoclea (talk) 18:43, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Hello, we haven't met but...
we seem to share the same concerns... I recently posted a query on the translation talk page Wikipedia_talk:Translation#Citations_and_References about the lack of citations/references in articles submitted for proof-reading. After posting, I realised that there seems to be very little activity on that talk page and upon scrolling back through the comments, I saw that you had posted a very similar query in December 2007, which still seems to be awaiting a response from anyone! I've only just started proof-reading (from French to English) and I added references to the article which I tackled, before I declared it 100 per cent clear. It does seem that the verifiability standards are lower in foreign language Wikipedias, however, I strongly feel that the translators of articles should be required to bring them up to English Wikipedia standards as part of the task of translation - and that means they must find and provide references. I just wondered how you proceeded in the end, did anyone from the translation project ever communicate you? One final thought, if two people feel the same way, and no-one else speaks up, does that constitute a "consensus"?! Burntfingers (talk) 06:30, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
