[edit] Welcome
A warm welcome to the English Wikipedia, dear Hexer! If you have questions, please don't ask on my talk page, because I'm not active here. Just ask one of these people. Most of them are happy to help (but only if nobody stole their passwords, of course). :o) We (I don't mean myself very much but rather the community of the English Wikipedia) look forward to your contributions! Have fun! --Thogo (Talk) 22:07, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Sceptre would like to nominate you for adminship!
- No hurry, of course :) Will (talk) 22:18, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
- Well, okay. It's possible to start the RfA on July 14, before 2 o'clock pm UTC? It would be wunderful 'cause then I'll have vacations. :) Maybe you add some links, e. g. [1] [2], [3] or [4]. I could do this, too, replying to the three "questions for the candidate". Greetings and thanks for your confidence, —DerHexer (Talk) 22:51, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

Maybe it's better if someone else will nominate you here - because here I'm not a "Star" *g*. Nearly nobody knows me and if I nominate you with my horrible english, they maybe laugh but dont give you the voice. So we will wait a longer time until I can nominate someone for adminship here afte at de:WP ;) (for the others: DerHexer is already Administrator e at the german-language-Wikipedia and I had nominate him there for the election). The interesting thing is - Hexer is
- Student
- Wikipedia-Author ("Portal:Latein"/"Portal:Latin")
- Admin who works a lot at the RC at the de:WP
- and here at the RC.

[edit] "Vandalism"
It's nice to know editors such as yourself are so good at checking the talk page of the articles they revert before jumping to the immediate conclusion of vandalism... NOT! I hope other editors are better than you at interacting with other users 121.218.198.145 10:25, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, it's vandalism to remove a lot of sourced content, to remove the Wiki syntax and so on. If you want to change something, feel free to do so but don't botch one's work. Thanks, —DerHexer (Talk) 10:29, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
I don't see how it was vandalism, what the first person put was pure lies about the character, I was simply deleting what was un-true. Maybe you should look into it yourself. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.65.66.194 (talk) 21:11, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Super Mario RPG lists
Currently, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars has two lists pertaining to it (List of characters in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, and List of locations in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars). User:TTN decided it would be best to merge the lists into the main article and split Smithy Gang into those articles. I recently merged Smithy Gang into the list of chatacters by removing the non-notable characters, and I have asserted that a cameo section in the list of characters is valid, per Wikipedia:Trivia sections and Wikipedia:Handling trivia that uses Alex Trebek#Cameos as a good example. I have suggested that we rename the articles per Wikipedia:Requested moves#Requesting potentially controversial moves to something along the lines of Characters of Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars and World of Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars or Mushroom Kingdom (Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars) just like Characters of Final Fantasy VIII and World of Final Fantasy VI or Gaia (Final Fantasy VII). I believe if these articles are to evolve beyond a non-notable list, they should be renamed. For example, List of Final Fantasy VII locations was merged into Gaia (Final Fantasy VII), because a World article is notable, but a simple list of locations is not. That is why there are other secions of the article to make it a World article. It simply has not been renamed yet.
TTN believes the citations in the development and reception sections of the list of locations, books and magazines, are trivial sources. When I added that the 3D perspective of the game is reminicent of Equinox to the main article, TTN removed it since my souce was "the opinions of the Nintendo Power player's guide writers". Although it was actually Nintendo Power magazine, I do believe a magazine is a reliable source, and I gave a page from Next Generation Magazine which also said the same thing. In addition, I was surprized that TTN said that it was from the players guide, since he claims to own the players guide for the game. He has not verified this, since I asked him for citations in May, "Could you look in the back of the Player's Guide and tell me what “types” of … Magic? I forgot what they call it in the game … well, anyways, what types of Special Attack or whatever it is (actually, could you find out what it's called?) there are? I remember some vaguely when I owned the guide like “Fire”, “Jump”, “Electricity?”, etc. Could you provide a citation, like the page number with a quote in context?" TTN replied that he was going to "get to it" (User talk:TTN/Archive 5#List of locations in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars). TTN claims the player's guide is "at the bottom of a box that's behind at least five others in a cramped space". Seeing that TTN did not recognize that the page was not from the player's guide when I provided a scan of the page in question from Nintendo Power shocked me. However, I have continued to assume good faith by not questioning TTN's honesty.
Per Wikipedia:Consensus#Consensus can change, I have offered five different reasonable, temporary compromises that might integrate my idea with TTN's.
- Go over the list of characters so we can delete non–notable characters
- Rename the articles by following the steps at Wikipedia:Requested moves#Requesting potentially controversial moves.
- Cut down the geography section list of locations by cutting it into the regional maps the adventures use when traveling from one to another. I can get pictures and write the fair use rationals, and someone can cut down the text that has no citation and does not allude to other media.
- Write the concept and creation and reception sections for the list of characters
- Write the concept and creation section for the main article
TTN rejected my compromise because it still keeps the articles. I agreed I would consider a redirect, but Wikipedia:Article size does not allow that, since the list of locations is currently 82 KB long. Instead, I agreed to help cut down the geography section that is the bulk of the article, but TTN rejected that as well because TTN states, "I am not interested in working on the article in regards to improving it." and "get past this "having sources automatically means that this information is good" mentality." TTN states, "I don't think they have or will ever assert notability." I have replied with, "Wikipedia is not a crystal ball, so if you don't think the articles will ever assert notability, we cannot yet know this, per Wikipedia:Arguments to avoid in deletion discussions#I don't like it.
Would you please take a look at Talk:Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars and give us your thoughts? Taric25 01:23, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Good question. Same story with deleting a discussion when it is finished and resolved. What is wrong with deleting it? How the heck is THAT vandalism. You guys really don't want contributions. [edit] Totally Confused re: Editing Process (See Ska Page)
I'm sorry, there is something I am not getting. I edited the ska page, it was a constant fight with Upsetterfc. You had indicated that I needed to put citations so I did. A TON of them. Still an editing war with Upsetterfc. He kept deleting everything I contributed so I gave up. Fine problem solved situation resolved. I decided to make no more contributions to pages where he is involved. So then I edited the Talk page since the situation had been resolved and you accused me of vandalism. I had asked a questin about it and never got a response. So, I edited the Talk page again with an explanation and now Skylab has reversed it.
This is TOTALLY confusing. You delete what I want to add and you keep adding what I want to delete. I just don't get it. On the one hand, pages on here ask for contributions. When contributions are made it's such a hassle it doesn't seem to be worth the bother. It's almost like certain people own certain pages here and no one else is allowed to make any changes.
I put this on Skylab's page as well. Please clarify.

[edit] Valley Forge General Hospital
Hello, I am the one who erased part of the section in Valley Forge General Hospital. I would have appreciated if you actually read the deleted portion before you undid my edit. It is completely unsuitable for Wikipedia or any informational website.
- Many parts read as a trivia section ("The famous actor, Gene Wilder, was a neuropsychiatric technician at Valley Forge General Hospital in the late 1950s.").
-There are absolutely no references anywhere in the section, and many statements are opinions or are completely unverifiable ("As a result, they rented housing in Phoenixville, Norristown, Pottstown and virtually all of the other local communities. Many of the personnel joined local groups."). What local groups? How can we verify this? Also ("It was a huge loss to the military, and to the local community.") This is most certainly an opinion, and has NO facts to back it up. This hospital was the subject of the US Supreme Court case "Valley Forge Christian College v. Americans United" (1982) where it was decided that the hospital could be liquidated as UNNEEDED SURPLUS PROPERTY and only a few years later was reopened as a fully accredited college. I would hardly call the sale of surplus property via a Public Benefit Allowance a "huge loss", especially when there are absolutely no citations showing that there was any kind of financial or sociopolitical loss.
-The section is full of weasel-worded statements ("Many new medications were first utilized there, and many treatment techniques were developed there").
- At least one sentence is written in the first person ("It was intense, and very, very comprehensive. That training enabled graduates to challenge the R.N. boards after I left the Army.")
- Many sentences make no logical sense and have no documentation to back them up ("The Acrylic Eye (for people who had lost an eyeball) was invented by one of the DENTISTS at Valley Forge") (my emphasis on 'dentist' - why would a dentist be involved in opthamological research?)
- Many sentences have no relevance to the overall topic whatsoever ("Many of the married enlisted personnel also joined local volunteer fire departments, where that training paid off.") I cannot see how married enlisted men joining local fire departments has ANYTHING to do with the topic.
- And please read the last four lines of the section: "There were also 20 people who died of the plague in this hospital.
Please note, whoever stated that about 20 people died of the plague at this hospital, is telling bald faced lies. Not one case of plague was ever contracted at Valley Forge General Hospital. That is one of the problems with Wikipedia, anyone can write anything, whether it is true or not."
This entire section was a joke. No amount of research could possibly verify half of these claims. Since the section is so impertinent to the article itself, I think it was a much better idea to delete the section. While I realize you like to think of yourself as the vandalism police, it's worth taking a closer look next time.
Thanks, Matt

Oh, and one or other of your reverting and deleting is clearly being done by a bot. My money's on the reverting, which is lucky for you, because you're not meant to delete things with bots (not that I can talk) – Gurch 22:42, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Just Curious..
Hello, I see you and dozens of others busting their arses to knock out vandalism and it seems to be a never ending battle. I've tried to help out myself and have gotten frustrated with it. I'm just wondering has it always been this way? If so Why? Why hasn't Wikipedia gotten stricter on this problem? Why do they continue to let it happen and only offer lame threats like 'Please stop, or we'll tell your mum!' (Not exactly but you get my point.) I don't understand, I think Wikipedia is a wonderful tool in so many ways, yet there are a load of idiots ruining it and it seems those who have the authority to stop it, or at least prevent it leave it up to everyone else. Meanwhile, people who make a gods honest effort to contribute are chastised or red tape makes it damn near impossible. To start with why don't they just ban Anonymous IP's from editing period! You want to edit, sign up! Most of the problem seems to come from IP's anyway, and most of those IPs are teenage school brats. Sorry, I'm new here and just trying to figure out why the powers that be would allow this to go on and often over and over and over again from the same IP groups. Are they willingly letting this valuable tool go to hell on the fast track? I appreciate those who vigilantly go after vandals because I've run out of patience in a very short time so you've earned my respect. Then of course there are those that do more criticizing than they actually do to help contribute anything. If they spent half the time doing instead of complaining they wouldn't have anything to complain about. Thanks for doing your best! --Dp67 | QSO | Sandbox | UBX's 20:10, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

There was a contentious forced merge of Mars global warming into Climate of Mars. The talk page Talk:Mars global warming was left alone at the time but I suspect that someone came along and changed it to a redirect and you, just seeing the redirect, deleted it. Could you restore the page and revert back to the version prior to it becoming a redirect? I'm going to be doing something with that page and would like the old talk restored. TMLutas 07:33, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

Don't mean to sound nosey, but what server and channel on IRC do you all hang around at? :P — jacĸrм (talk) 21:49, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
- #wikipedia, #wikipedia-en, #wikipedia-en-admins, #wikipedia-es, #wikipedia-de, #wikipedia-admin, #wikipedia-de-chem, #wikipedia-de-rc, #wikimedia-swmt, #wikimedia-stewards and sometimes #wikimedia. Why do you ask me? —DerHexer (Talk) 21:52, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
- What server is that at? I was just wondering as I used to go there, but now I've lost the server and my connection is currently being slow, therefore trying to find the server through Wikipedia is not such a good idea. — jacĸrм (talk) 22:00, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
- meta:IRC channels? ;) It's freenode. —DerHexer (Talk) 22:09, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Halbsperren
Kannst du mir mal bitte meine Benutzerseite und Diskussionsseite halbsperren? Ich habe genug von dem Penner. Marcus Cyron 22:09, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- Benutzerseite unbegrenzt halbgesperrt, Diskussionsseite für einen Tag. Kennst ja die Regeln ;) , —DerHexer (Talk) 22:16, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- Der nervt aber schon länger. Eine Woche wäre schon nett. Ansonsten trotzdem danke. Marcus Cyron 22:55, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
—DerHexer (Talk) 21:26, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

- This is a discussion page. Here I can use the language I want to use. It's not your problem. I don't like it, if somone will tell me, wich language I have to use. And a translation is not needed. Please do your own things. Marcus Cyron 22:55, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Revert on Alcoholics Anonymous
Hi,
User 207.232.97.13
has been vandalizing the AA article for months now, my deletion of his material was in line with the discussion page. Thanks. 80.194.237.22 23:39, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Block of
Did you get confused? :P [9], [10]. Heh, anyhow, keep up the great work, and happy vandal whacking. Oh and btw did you know you've beaten the IRC revert bot the most times? That's no small feat! KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 00:03, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I've known that. But it's not important who reverts but that it will be reverted. … Thanks for your fix. Maybe there is a bug in my script—I'll try to fix it. Regards, —DerHexer (Talk) 00:04, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
- Anytime, just keep up the stupendous work! KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 00:07, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Quick help
user:68.121.25.73 needs blocking, please, and perhaps his two favorite pages need to be semi-ed. He's a sock that just keeps coming back... I've reported to AIV but no one is watching it. Thanks! Gscshoyru 21:51, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] The Specialists Revert
TSRP is not acceptable in the Wikipedia article. The role-play bastardization of the game is as unique to TS as it is to Counter-Strike, Half-life (even more so: see Master Sword Continued), Magic the Gathering, or checkers. Aside from TSRP being third-party and built off of mostly illegally pirated content, it simply is nothing more than advertising here. Keep in-game community information on your respective forums, and not flooding half the official Wikipedia article.
This has been posted in the page discussion. It is unreasonable and a legal risk to relate what appears to be official 'The Specialists Mod' information with a single players' role-play addon which is responsible for large-scale distribution illegal/pirate content. Infact, the entire section of role-play is officially unsupported and officially discouraged. Do not revert the removal of 'Role-Play.' —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.164.0.240 (talk) 21:55, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks! #2
Someone vandalized my Userspace! But a little angel came along and fixed it! Thank you! You can thank others by using {{subst:Vangel}}! Nburden (T) 22:05, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] You blocked a user
You blocked User:Qomee for being a vandalism only account. While it was definitely true that all 2 of the user's edits were vandalism, the user had not yet been warned or otherwise notified of wikipedia's policies. Wouldn't a {{blatantvandal}} been a better action immediately? I know vandals get us all down and waste significant amounts of all our time, but banning straight out of the gate seems like it would discourage the rare repentant vandal from contributing meaningfully. I'm not asking you to unban this particular user, just... try not to bite the newbies quite so hard(even the vandals) i kan reed 03:05, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] My Rfa
Thanks for voting in my Rfa, which I withdrew from yesterday. Though I did not get promoted, I see this Rfa as being a success nonetheless. What I got out of this Rfa will help me to be a better, all around editor. Because of this Rfa I have decided to become better in other areas of editing. I'm not going to just be a vandalfighter. Though vandalfighting is good, being active in all areas of editing is even better. Have a nice day.--SJP 22:31, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Gosh!
You just beat me to not 1, not 2, not 3, but 10, that's 10 reverts in a row. This is almost annoying ;). Thanks for being so awesome. :) Nihiltres(t.l) 22:55, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] My recent RfA #2
Thank you for participating in my recent RfA. Although the voting ended at 36/22/5, there was no consensus to promote, and the RfA was unsuccessful. I would like the thank you nonetheless for supporting me during the RfA, and hope that any future RfA’s proceed better than this one did. Again, I thank you for your support. ≈ The Haunted Angel Review Me! 02:24, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
