Wiki Reflection Essay
What I’ve learned about the wiki project is how immersion works & how it is to be inside of a constructed image which in life, only the object being observed is in focus. What impacted me the most is the how according to Morton Heiling sight, hearing, smell; touch & taste has a lot to do with a filming movie. It’s extremely immersive how a genre related to the action, mystery, detective, and even horror film genre in which the audience is never quite sure if a main character will successfully escape being harmed or will succeed on a dangerous mission is generated with sound effect provoking great suspense.
The experience of working on the wiki project was getting to know my classmates much better, we actually had conversations about the topic and we tried to help each other’s out. I love working in team work so this was a great experience personally. What I didn’t like was of course, technical issues that had all of us going crazy, but it didn’t really matter at the end since we all had already talked over our 15 min break during class. Actually I never had the chance to surf on Wikipedia before. It was all new to me which honestly helped me be informed of new websites that involves people’s opinion. Working as group’s wikis was an awesome idea we all learned how to exchange ideas and thoughts about what really our class is about. Everyone had wonderful points of view related to our topic which made me be more involved and understand a lot of things that I was not familiar with. I have to agree to the argument raised in class that a wiki's strength is derived from the sheer number of contributors. My group was well composed and our leader was such a great influence and helpful.
