[edit] Future extension

Whilst an extension of the line to Osbaldwick may be possible, I doubt very much that there are any serious plans to go back to Layerthorpe. Firstly, there has been at least one house built on the track bed since closure, and secondly the trackbed beyond Osbaldwick has been converted into a cycle and footpath, closure of which is likely to be heavily opposed. I can find no evidence from the DVLR website that they have any expansion plans, let alone to Layerthorpe, so unless some citation can be found, I propose to remove this sentence. —  Tivedshambo  (t/c) 20:47, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
