Talk:Derrick Carter
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It strikes me that the last section of this article has an ulterior motive; namely, to coin the term 'boompty house'. I don't believe it's grounded in any fact. Opinions?
- I tend to agree with you, although being a underground house junkie I'm pretty sure Derricks one of the main players involved in the evolution of the so-called 'boompty sound'. I already searched for backup in the form of references for the statements that are made in the paragraph, but I failed to find them. I was the one who added the citation tags. I think it's fair to say that the section you mentioned 1) needs to be rewritten with referenced statements or 2) needs to be removed from the article. I think removal is the best choice at the moment. DaSjieb 20:02, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
I can sympathize with you both on your points and all but regardless of whether you believe someone was trying to coin a term or have any other ulterior motives, the term does exist and it is used often enough in certain circles. Its proliferation is not the issue though, and since it does exist and yes, my mother actually used to say that to me, I don't think that it should be removed. If need be I canl have my mom, Mrs. C. Carter, provide verification. Boompty 08:04, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
- First of all, I respect your opinion, and this is not an attempt to start a flamewar. That being said, if you really are mister Carter (which I doubt), you'd make a wise decision to actually tell that to the reporter next time you give an interview, so that we can have a good reference instead of some loose statements based on nothing but thin air.
