[edit] Notability

To establish notability, we need a reference that discusses Denny-Brown's role in the creation of XMLHttpRequest (the foundation of AJAX). I get the impression that he played a major (if not the major) role in the creation of the interface, which would more than justify this article, but the references provided simply state that he was team lead and that his team had ownership of the interface at some unspecified point. Perhaps someone can dig up something a little more specific.

We probably should reinstate the notability tag from User:Chaser as well -- it shouldn't have been removed without an opportunity for discussion. Note that I do not object to this article, and I hope that it will stand; I just don't want to dodge Wikipedia's normal discussion processes. David 20:11, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

Thats my mistake. Sorry about that! I didn't understand the proper protocol in this regard. How do I go about reinstating this?

There are plenty of links/folks that can help bring this into a greater understanding. I will work on finding a few more with a bit more focus towards the proper placement of Derek as the key figure/developer behind this effort. Also, Derek was the developer responsible for both the MSXML processing engine as well as System.Xml, the first of which can easily establish his dominance as a primary figure involved with much of what the web is now using for the processing and presentation of browser-based XML.
Worth noting: In follow-up to my recent post to XML.com, Len Bullard provides the following comment,
"Derek worked for Dr. Steven Newcomb's TechnoTeacher company prior to joining Microsoft. TechnoTeacher's HyMinder engine was a robust implementation of ISO 10744 - Hytime. He briefly assisted with the US Navy MID project (a so-called notional browser language developed as a project managed out of the David Taylor Model Basin - Carderock) while in the employ of TechnoTeacher.
"That's first hand because I was the original contractor team leader for that project while working on IDEAS/IADS at Unisys/Paramax/Lockheed Martin. Neill Kipp (also from TechnoTeacher) and I authored the first versions of what became MID I. The MID (Metafile for Interactive Documents) precedes both XUL and XAML as a markup-based GUI."
As soon as I have a chance, I will work on locating some more links. My apologies for the deletion of the original notability tag. I'll remember to not make this mistake again :)
Thanks!
