Derrick Tyrone Gaffney (born May 24, 1955 in Jacksonville, Florida) is a former NFL wide receiver. He played for the New York Jets from 1978-1987. He is the father of current New England Patriots wide receiver Jabar Gaffney and the uncle of current Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Lito Sheppard.
Derrick Gaffney played collegiately at the University of Florida. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha, the first intercollegiate Greek-letter organization established for African Americans.[1]
