Derren Witcombe

Derren John Charles Witcombe (born October 30, 1978 in Hobart, Australia) is a New Zealand rugby union footballer who plays at the position of hooker. He plays for Auckland at provincial level and the Blues in the Super 14. He was a surprise pick in the All Black squad in 2005 after playing only eight games for the Blues behind incumbent All Black hooker Keven Mealamu. After being involved in five test matches, including those against the British & Irish Lions, Witcombe suffered a neck injury that put him out of contention for the remainder of the Tri-Nations and subsequently the All Blacks squad since.

Witcombe began his playing career with Northland in 1999 before transferring to Auckland in 2003

Derren Witcombe is an accomplished cricketer, and has played for the Northland province as a wicket keeper/batsman.[1]
