[edit] Playing career
Brassard was selected in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets with the 6th overall pick. Considered one of the better skaters in the 2006 Entry Draft by both NHL Central Scouting and the International Scouting Service, Brassard is said to be a "great playmaker that can score as well". In his first month with the Crunch, he was named rookie of the month. While a broken jaw sidelined him for 2 months, he continued to tear up the AHL.
He was recalled to Columbus January 10, 2008
After Playing 17 games with the Blue jackets, Brassard was quietly sent back to the Syracuse Crunch on February 27 totalling 26 points upon his return to finish the regular season.
Recently Brassard has announced that he intends on working with the Blue Jackets personal training staff, in hope that he'll be a full time Blue jacket in the 2008–2009 season, just as Jared Boll did the off season, the previous year.
