Derek Roddy (Born August 28, 1972) is an extreme metal drummer from Florida. He is most well known for playing drums with Hate Eternal, though he has also played/recorded with Nile, Malevolent Creation, Serpent's Rise, Divine Empire, Council Of The Fallen, Today Is The Day, Traumedy, and Aurora Borealis. He is known for his extremely fast and proficient drumming and is completely self taught. Derek is widely known among other death metal drummers for one-footing his blast beats, that is, only using one foot for the bass-drum portion of a blast beat. Derek is also known for his 'roundness' in musical styles, as he doesn't only play extreme metal, but is also an avid player of blues, rock and jazz. As of March 28, 2006 Derek Roddy has announced his departure from Hate Eternal. [1]
