Derek Byrne (born May 28, 1981) is a radio presenter on Dublin's Alternative Station Phantom 105.2. He hails from Rush, Co. Dublin. He presents The Lounge, a two hour general music show on Sunday nights from 10pm, and The Album Archive, a one hour specialist show also on Sunday nights from midnight[1]. Derek also works as a technical producer on The Kiosk, Phantom's arts and culture show, which airs every Saturday morning at 11am. He regularly fills in on various other shows on Phantom.

[edit] Radio History
Derek's first radio experience was on Limerick College radio Wired Fm back in 2000. He presented 'Catch-22', an alternative rock music show, on a weekly basis for three years. From there he moved to Ballyfermot College of Further Education in Dublin and undertook the media and radio course in 2003. He graduated in 2006 with an honours degree in Media Management.
Derek joined Phantom 105.2 on it's full-time launch in October 2006.

The Lounge is a two hour general music and request show that airs on Sunday nights from 10pm, on Phantom 105.2. The music is broken up between current Phantom play-list and listener requests. The show often features live music along with remixes and mash-ups of alternative rock and dance artists.

The Album Archive airs on Sunday night/Monday morning on Phantom 105.2 for one hour. Each week one album is covered in depth, looking at it's recording history, release and place in music history.
