Thank You

Thank you very much for you greeting into the Law Enforcement wikiproject. I'm a law enforcement explorer and therefor am still new to the law enforcement world. Im also new to the world of wiki editing. Between the two I doubt there is much I can do help here. Ive already edited the Law Enforcement Explorers page, but besides that I'm, not sure what else I can do. I'll keep looking though.

Thanks again and PS. I linked your clip-on tie page in my edit before I even got your greeting. lol

Have a great weekend. Stay safe.

Re: my complaint

Honestly, you are waaaay intimidating. For starters, your required procedures for filing a complaint with you are about as difficult as filing a tax return. Secondly, your involvement in law enforcement, whether it be actual criminal law enforcement as an occupation or within some or other Wikiprojects should really have no bearing on anything but your user name or your home page. Now, while you may disagree, your little police cap in the URC of your user page and your excessive conditions related to other people posting on your user page, making a complaint, returning to respond to your response, etc. give the appearance as though you are more than just another individual using Wikipedia. It is as though you are an official enforcer, working on behalf of Wikipedia more so than the rest of us. We are all working to make this place a better place, but when you post on someone's page and they try to respond to you and find that they need to download a template within which to properly receive a response from you, I think that this is being overly pretentious. How can you expect someone who has made only a few edits to articles and been here less than 10 minutes decipher your user page. You need more than a user page and a talk page, and you send people to your complaints department? Don't you think this is a bit too much? You may feel that I am being excessive and that you have the right to do whatever it is you like in terms of how people respond to your postings on their pages, and that is why I am merely talking to you about it and not reporting you or something, but I think it's important to take a step back and think about what it is that a message from you does to whomever it is directed. Thats a good one, I wish I had all my kit :( I'd just wear the stuff and practise and look at how cool I looked :P

Cuffs

I wish I had all my kit now :(

I want to ask you a policing question, how specifically do the handcuffs work? Are they automatically locked as soon as they close so you only use the key to unlock them, or do you have to lock them on a suspect with the keys? (the latter seems unlikely). Are they locked when on your belt so you have to unlock them with key to use them, or are do they rest on your belt unlocked somehow?

I'm assuming the rest on your belt unlocked, lock into place when closed, and the key unlocks them. SGGH speak! 20:19, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

I have replied on SGGH user talk page
So they sit unlocked on your belt, you cuff a resisting suspect and they automatically lock. You then either:

a) Use the key to unlock him because you dearrested him for some reason b) Use the key to double lock them before throwing him in the van

Those are the only two times you use the key? Use the pin on the end of the key to unlock from normal or to double lock, or to unlock from double lock by twisting one way then t'other? Right?

Okay, I think I have it. Next we move on to ASPs and CS. Cheapest police education ever :P SGGH speak! 20:49, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

How do you store your stabbie? Becuase I'm going to be at Uni for the first 3 years of my specials career and I'm wondering about storage space. The station ("nick" :P) doesn't have the locker space for it to stay there. SGGH speak! 20:59, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
We take everything home bar CS, due to the lack of lockers, it's the same for a number of regs too. SGGH speak! 14:49, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

WPLE

Hi, this particular change just creates a shortcut for those using this template, which I have been doing a lot. This is just a mechanic change, not really one that affects the template or use of either name itself. Both still work, just as {{Wikiproject Japan}} and {{WPJ}} get the same effect. Manchester - FA push

Hello fellow WikiProject Greater Manchester participant! T=You may or may not be aware that our Manchester article has recently obtained official good article status! This is a great acheievement, but we don't want to stop there! We're hoping to spend the next few weeks as a team to raise the standard of this article to featured standard! It will only be possible if we work together, and hope you can take a moment to look both at the FA criteria, and the Manchester article and aid us in this feat! Any problems, feel free to raise them at Talk:Manchester! Good luck! Jza84 23:19, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

To be (police)or not to be...

God evening, Deputy.A have a little problem. I'm a brazilian municipal guard and I to make some contributions in Wikipedia.Some months ago I had a "discussion" with a user called Sparks1979 and he sad my corporation is a security force but isn't a aunonomal police unity, and if you read the article about municipal guards in wikipedia, it's written the term "security police".But, wait a minute, brazilian municipal guards are accepted by International Police Association as members, so , what is wrong, the municipal guards or the brazilian laws? Gimmie an answer, please!TKS {{Bryard (talk) 16:06, 13 December 2007 (UTC)}}

Hey!

Hello

Are you a Police Officer? I really want to join and am going to have a crack at it as soon as i'm 18 its something i've always wanted to do. Also an ambition of mine is to get into Force Firearms, have you had any experiance with the Firearms Unit. If you dont mind me asking?

Merry Christmas!

Hello

Thank you for answering, yeah I dont blame you not wanting to be where the bullets are if your thinking of starting a family. Yeah I dont think i'm going to try and join at 18 iridescent suggested that it might be an idea to be a PCSO first, and that sounds pretty good because your sort of already "in" if that makes sense, I know you wouldnt be a PO but still its second best to gain experiance. Anyway thanks for answering. I hope you dont think i'm being rude by asking this but what rank are you if you dont mind me asking? As i'm just really interested in this subject. Thanks.

Hey, Oh right. I heard that 3 Quarters of the UKPS are made up of them. Everyone bangs on about them but the public would be in a rut without them.

Firearms unit conflict

Speaking to you as a 'Project Co-ordinator' of the Law Enforcement WikiProject.

Please compare this revision with the current one. Police,Mad,Jack has reverted the first revision, I believe he thought I had deleted his text when all I had done was move it from the opening paragraph and alter minor parts of it for grammar and style. I am unwilling to start a revert war, so I appeal to you to speak to him and explain what happened.

I just checked my revision - the only text I actually deleted was some pretty obvious stuff about the fact that a navigator navigates... :p I also missed a sentance about crewing levels which I will be happy to add into the first sentance. Ninetyone (talk) 18:51, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

All right mate fair enough, As far as i'm concerned you can add etc and clean it up just dont delete what I have done.

Hey! I saw your welcome template placed on a new user yesterday and thought I'd try welcoming a new user myself - but in doing so, I tried editing the message I put on the user's page so that it would mention you in the third person, instead of in the first. However, I somehow ended up editing your template itself. Dunno how that happened - ne'er happened to me before; and I've undone that edit. So - this is just to explain my actions. Really sorry - no harm intended. aJCfreak yAk 08:06, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Law enforcement agency article chaos ?

Hello,

I am looking for some advice and wikiquette direction:

I have been looking at law enforcement agency articles and many of them seem to be overlapping, poorly organised, the catogries seem to be incestuous, some of the article content is just plain wrong, etc. I am a first time Wiki editor, completely redoing the Law enforcement agency article - still a work in progress, in terms of both content and Wiki facilities etc.

I now want to remove / redirect articles likes Federal police and National police and combine various lists of LEAs into one list which actually adds some knowledge value about the LEAs other than just a list of links.

So, have I approached the rewrite of Law enforcement agency appropriately ?

And, how do I go about removing and redirecting Federal police and National police both from a Wikiquette point of view and technically ?

Also, what is the protocol, as far as the Wiki law enforcement project is concerned to work on rationalising the whole brad category ? Pee Tern (talk) 23:03, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

And the law enforcemen categories seem all over the place. It looks like people have mixed up article names with catogory names, articles and sub catogories are seem to be "categorised" together. Trying to use the categories as way of replacing "list articles" lloks like a nightmare, without a huge amount of clean up work in the process, or have I missed something ? Pee Tern (talk) 06:54, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Firstly, you have approached it all very well, you have thought everything through. What I would suggest is to start a discussion on Federal police, National police and WT:LE where you outline what you wish to do and invite discussion, then you will be able to move with the support of concensus, which is always good. I have created this page for you to do so. Go there and start your discussion, and then copy the following onto the talk pages I mentioned above (don't click the + button, just edit the whole page and place this at the end):

== Merge proposal == Hello, with the go ahead of the [[WP:LE|Law enforcement wikiproject]] I have opened [[Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Law Enforcement/Pee Tern's discussion|this page]] for the discussion of a number of merge and redirect proposals concerning, among others, this page. I would appreciate any thoughts you might have, please click on the link and give them there. Many thanks! ~~~~

Create the discussion page first, then sent the above to all the relevant talk pages, and soon your discussion should be flowing! Make sure you explain clearly what you wish to do. SGGH speak! 10:28, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks SGGH. This is done now. Sorry but I was still getting ready . . . Pee Tern (talk) 01:46, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

And by the way why does my user name show as broken link ? Pee Tern (talk) 06:54, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Simply because you haven't put anything on your userpage yet :) SGGH speak! 10:28, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. I had not realised an explicit page was necessary, thinking that it was the "account" that was what was linked to. Pee Tern (talk) 01:46, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
