DBSA is a non profit organization which provides support groups across the United States, as well as online to sufferers, family and friends of people with Depression and Bipolar illnesses.
DBSA also does outreach, education and advocacy.

The supports groups are amazingly helpful for many people; brainstorming solutions, experiencing healing human connection, making new friends, and hearing great information. There are hundreds of groups across the US!!

A Scientific Advisory Board and a small staff also host an annual conference in the US. The DBSA 2008 National Conference: The Power of Peers will be held September 10-14 in Norfolk,VA. This peer-centered conference will feature consumer keynotes of international fame, Kay Redfied Jamison, PhD, Pat Deegan, PhD and Larry Fricks. Larry will co-keynote with aclaimed author Richard Cohen, who documents the life of Larry and four other individuals that live with a variety of other chronic illnesses. The weekend will be packed with educational breakout sessions as well as peer roundtables focused on wellnesses strategies for consumers, family and providers alike. DBSA is now collaborating with other supportive organizations, such as Pathways To Recovery.
DBSA has published literature and a telephone line for referrals and information on its support groups.
DBSA weekly meetings are welcoming, and take place from the Dana Center in snowy Portland, Maine, to Keene, New Hampshire, to the Big Apple, New York City, to all corners of the country, all the way out to sunny Los Angeles, California.
