Department of Computer Systems & Networking, SLIIT is one of four academic departments at the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology based at its campus in Malabe. Established in 2006 the department is headed by Dr. Malitha Wijesundara. It is first department of it type established in Sri Lanka.

The department is responsible for carrying out academic studies and research in areas of computer science, computer systems, computer networking and network security. Currently no post-graduate programs are offered from the department.

In November 2007, undergrad student research projects won the gold award and 3 merit awards at the Techno 2007, national engineering exhibition organized by the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL).[1]

The Computer Systems & Network Student Community (CSNSC) is the principle student body of the Department. Formed in July 2007, it aims to foster and encourage knowledge sharing among students as well as to promote awareness amongst students and the community on the latest developments in the field of embedded systems, data communications and information security. In addition, the CSNSC promotes and organizes the cultural and social activities of the department.
