Me.
Me.

I do something related to broadcasting. I like palm trees. I've been actively reading Wikipedia for ages but didn't do much besides the odd IP edit here and there (typos mainly, grammar stuff) from AOL and Roadrunner previously. I logged in on a lark to fix a typo one day and to try making an article (I cheated at first, just copying the layout from another bio article and redoing the shell of the layout into the Tim Kirk article) and some vandal account immediately tagged me for vandalism.

I found the ANI boards after googling for admin help to report the guy, and through that ended up finding out about RC/recent changes patrol. RC seemed like a nice way to help out on a site I loved reading, so I started to do that in my spare time. It seemed like a good way to learn the ins and outs as well, and how people did stuff by watching them work at it. I ended up making some more articles, and just tried to do a bit more here and there as I learned more of the site's ebbs and flows. I love reading about the history of Wikipedia as well, and ended up doing work on articles like the Essjay controversy, and also try to help on BLP and policy issues (still learning, there) as well when I see them. I am a firm believer in not enabling disruptive trolls or vandals.

If you want a cool most certainly at least not lame WP:TWINKLE userbox, look here. Or, just include {{User:DennyColt/TwinkleUserBox}}. Interesting thought:

A more accurate parallel would be driving through the house to "save the day" while shouting If I'm doing the right thing I can ignore all rules! vs. taking the extra time to drive around the block, showing up a short while later, still doing the exact same right thing, but not smashing anyone's house.

I don't know based on my time here if I care yet for WP:IAR or think I'll use it. We'll see... About concensus: I am a firm believer in concensus from learning this system. Opposing concensus without disruption is fine. Opposing concensus and basically making a colossally empty stink about it is not. Concenus as an idea exists for a reason. If you are against concensus, work with others to turn them around to your idea. If they won't, or it's obvious they won't, then why be a jackass about it? There are better ways to spend our time than fighting and sniping online. I vow that all my interactions on Wikipedia will be in support of the ideals of concensus, and if concensus is completely and obviously against what I desire, I will not be a WP:DICK about it.

Also, about misuse of process:

"Deliberate misuse of process is a favourite troll game[1]."
Wikipedia as an oligarchy

I strongly oppose any form of society, be it Wikipedia, the United States government, the United Nations, or anything, being run as an oligarchy. If Wikipedia is ever truly allowed to transform into that (and signs point to some wanting that) the project is in epic trouble and will likely fail in the end. Power is derived from the masses and concensual permission to act from your peers only.

Oligarchy (Greek Ὀλιγαρχία, Oligarkhía) is a form of government where political power effectively rests with a small, elite segment of society (whether distinguished by wealth, family or military prowess). The word oligarchy is from the Greek words for "few" (ὀλίγον óligon) and "rule" (ἄρχω arkho).
