This here's my talk page.
I refactor at will.
I put things where I can find them.
If what you say is important, I keep it. If it's not, I don't.
I read everything here. I reply to the sane. I definitely reply if you've remembered to take your meds.
My IQ is 176 and I have read all of Voltaire in his original Norwegian. Sometimes I lie.

[edit] Feature picture nomination
I'm not sure how much bigger is for the best. For the pic of the day, I generally need 300px wide or 600 if it's a landscape shot. I guess anything from 300-600 is fine for most articles. I don't think there needs to be a maximum size anymore. Because we have automatic thumbnailing, a 1 MB image would still appear as something reasonably sized in the article, but give people the option of viewing the larger one if they want to. I don't know what we'll do when it comes to releasing a print version though. Very few of our images are of a suitable resolution. Thanks for the note about the election. Angela. 12:21, 4 Jun 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Sig
The best approach is to change your sig to something like this:
Denn]][[User talk:Dwindrim|'''i'''
Then the four tildes will work for both sig and time. What does your sig script in preferences look like right now? - Tεxτurε 18:34, 4 Jun 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Political terrorism
I am going through Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Old tidying up and go to political terrorism, it was a border-line decision but I went for "no consensus to delete", but it would be brilliant if you could tidy it up as you hoped you might, if you get the time! Thanks! Pcb21| Pete 07:54, 9 Jun 2004 (UTC)

[edit] AngBot
Ang is pronounced more like Anj (an'j maybe?). The 'g' is certainly not a hard 'g', so there shouldn't be a problem following it with a B. Maybe I should tell Angela to make this clear on my user page. AngBot 22:38, 14 Jun 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks
Very kind of you -- I suppose you saw my mutterings on someone's talk page about honeymoons and Rutland. :-) Life is opening up ahead of me very nicely (though of course it will likely diminish my wiki-time for a while). Your fine pictures have inspired me, by the way -- I will definitely be taking pictures of Rutland with an eye towards getting them in the Wikipedia! And by the way, your comments at the top of this page reveal your pseudo-intellectual status -- all true Voltaire scholars know he composed freehand in Faroese and merely typed in Norwegian! ;-) Have a wonderful day, and keep up the great submissions, Jwrosenzweig 18:59, 15 Jun 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Request for AMA assistance
We have received an anonymous request for AMA assistance from an IP address, I have directed that individual to contact me if they wish not to create a Wikipedia account. If you are interested in helping please let me know and if I hear from this individual I will try and put you in contact. See Wikipedia:AMA Requests for Assistance. Thank you. — © Alex756 03:03, 18 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- Denni, thanks for your comment on my talk page about that annoymous user. I must point out that we are not "mediators" but advocates. This user was asking for help from an advocate. What kind of help this anonymous person was asking for is not clear, but if he wants the help of an advocate, even just to explain the system to him, I think that is within our balliwick. I think the overarching goal of AMA members is to help an individual understand the system, not to necessarily "represent" them in an official capacity, but also to lend a guiding hand, communicate with them and try to explain the system to them. Even if someone comes to us with what looks to be an accuracy problem they deserve our help in undstanding what kind of situation they are in. We do not refuse to help someone because they are confused? That would defeat the purpose of our organization, wouldn't it? — © Alex756 00:43, 25 Jun 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Another World
I requested clarification on the POV instances in the article. TheCustomOfLife 18:38, 18 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- The POV instances you cited have been changed. Re-read them and report back on whether they're sufficient or not.
- BTW, "villainous", to describe such characters as Iris Wheeler, is the way the character is meant to be portrayed. I'd be happy to explain that on the talk page, in case people who haven't watched the show do not understand that it is not my personal viewpoint...it's just what it is. TheCustomOfLife 18:52, 20 Jun 2004 (UTC)
-
- I've replied on my talk page. In addition, there is no secret as to which issues and publications I've scanned from. No one else has kept their complaints about the pictures after I've given an explanation. TheCustomOfLife 19:09, 20 Jun 2004 (UTC)

-
- For one, I have already placed the pictures. Do you suggest that I go to the four-dozen places I've placed pictures and remove them all, one by one, until I get an answer? And second, who do I even write to? TheCustomOfLife 21:24, 20 Jun 2004 (UTC)

- I won't remove the pictures...not because I'm being difficult, but because it's so much work. I've looked through Soap Opera Digest and I have not found any information about permissions, or anything that isn't customer service for subscriptions. TheCustomOfLife 21:56, 20 Jun 2004 (UTC)

-
- I found an area with e-mail addresses; I'm not sure if I'm e-mailing to the right place but I sent off for permission, with the promise that I will remove the pictures in question if I receive a rejection. TheCustomOfLife 23:48, 20 Jun 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Vfd vocabulary
Hi Denni, thanks for weighing in on the neutrosophy/paradoxism debate. I'd like to suggest that you use more guarded language when commenting on articles on vfd. My own goal there is to get some article deleted, no more or less. So language that could stir up irrelevant debates should be avoided. Thanks again for your support, I appreciate it. Regards & happy editing, Wile E. Heresiarch 04:39, 21 Jun 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Nomination Proposal
Denni, I would like to nominate you for admin. Woggly mentioned he thought you were deserving, but that he felt too new to nominate. I hadn't realized you weren't one (I know, I know, that old saw, but it's the truth!). I believe a nomination would be entirely uncontroversial, and I hope you will consider accepting. Please leave me a note either here or on my talk page confirming that I may nominate you, and I will do so with all possible speed. :-) Thanks for your hard work here -- please keep adding your excellent pictures! Jwrosenzweig 16:17, 21 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- All true, except I am a she, not a he. I liked some of your comments that I came across, snooped after you and liked the edits that I viewed. You strike me as intelligent, level-headed and devoted; most of the wikipedians who've impressed me as such were already administrators. :-) --Woggly 20:57, 21 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Darnit, James beat me here. We really are going to be accused of being the same person one of these days... moink 22:57, 21 Jun 2004 (UTC)

- Thanks for your gracious willingness, Denni. :-) I've nominated you at WP:RFA where you are welcome to come and accept your nomination at any time in the next week. Good luck. :-) And yes, you can opt out of adminship if you like, but I think you'll find there's usually no reason to. If you find you rarely use admin powers, there is no harm in your keeping them for a special occasion -- e.g., you stumble upon a series of vandal edits, and no one else is around to roll them back quickly, so you use your handy sysop rollback feature. Many admins are not involved with the kind of upkeep you see handled at VfD, Requests for Page Protection, etc. And perhaps you'll decide you like that sort of thing. :-) Have a good day, Jwrosenzweig 15:54, 24 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Don't worry Denni, you're not *expected* to do all the grunt-work as soon as you get your miraculous janitorial powers, you just can if you like. I'm sure it won't interfere with your great editing. And I will share with you my solution to Toronto (and New England) winters: stay inside. moink 20:20, 24 Jun 2004 (UTC)
[edit] clincal depression
Hi,the following image Image:Synapse.png is showing up as a black rectangle rather than the image you created. You don't happen to have a saved copy do you? If so can you re-upload it. TIA theresa knott 08:22, 29 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- it looked fine in your image gallery, yet when I clicked on the thumbnail I still got a black rectangle. However, looking at your markup, I decided that having the width attribute might be what's allowing the image to display OK so I tried adding it to the clinical depression article and it cured the problem for me. Hopefully it's cured the problem for everyone else too, but we'll have to wait and see.
- I'm glad we have a lot in common, my user page used to be quite sparse, but then a couple of months ago I thought "what the hell" and added more personal stuff. theresa knott 07:36, 30 Jun 2004 (UTC)
-
- I can see the picture OK now. Even though I thought a blank, black, black, black! rectangle, with no features, sitting there, staring was quite apt for the article. --bodnotbod 20:24, Jun 30, 2004 (UTC)
