I am a professor of cultural anthropology teaching at SUNY New Paltz. I also teach in the Women's Studies Program at New Paltz.

Have published articles in peer-reviewed journals on medical anthropology and HIV/AIDS research.

I am a priest of Yemaya in the Lukumi religious tradition.

Am a former member of the Young Lords Party and the Black Panther Party.

I was a founder and first program director of WPFW-FM Pacifica Washington, and a former Executive Director of the Black Filmmaker Foundation.
