To explain why I flagged this article:

Firstly, the tone is completely appropriate for an encyclopedia article. Just from the 1998 paragraph, "John reluctantly agreed", "despite the car being protested for a laundry list of imagined violations (the car was judged completely clean)", "the AWD revolution was on", "the team picked up Renee Eady", and "came within a whisker of winning the overall Championship" are all phrased inappropriately for an encyclopedia. The entire article needs rewording, in my opinion.

Secondly, I question the importance of Mr. Grant's accomplishments. The article is completely focused on his autocross career, but SCCA autocross, while a highly competitive endeavor, is ultimately an amateur pursuit and not particularly noteworthy compared to any professional motorsport series. Mr. Grant did win one (provisional?) autocross national championship, but it's important to note that national championships are awarded for every class in autocross; as a result, dozens are awarded every year. There are several autocrossers, some with dozens of national championships, far more noteworthy than Dennis Grant that do not have (and do not merit) Wikipedia articles. It's not clear why Mr. Grant warrants an article when they do not.

Lastly, there is some speculation that this article was written by Mr. Grant himself: http://sccaforums.com/forums/thread/209458.aspx. The allegations in the linked thread are admittedly lacking in evidence, but gain more credence when considered in light of the above two points.

I removed the flags, although the story flag has some merit and the language could use some tweaking.
The gentleman in question is a sporting champion in a nationally sanctioned sporting series and has been recorded in national media publications and recordings. That passes the notibility test. If there are other champions in this sport that merit similar articles, then create articles for them as well. Nothing prevents the creation of additional articles for participants who you feel are more deserving.
The claim of autobiography is unsubstanciated.

After further reflection, objection to the language in the "Career Bio" section seems well founded and so I removed that section.

[edit] Deleting these comments

Please stop deleting these comments. There is no provision in WP:Talk for deleting "long expired comments" -- in fact, it says not to in two different places:

"Never edit someone's words to change their meaning. Editing others' comments is not allowed."
"Archive — don't delete: When a talk page has become too large or a particular subject is no longer being discussed, don't delete the content — archive it. See Wikipedia:How to archive a talk page for details on why and how to."
