Denton, Oxfordshire
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Denton is a hamlet in the parish of Cuddesdon and Denton in Oxfordshire. Its name, found elsewhere across England, comes from the Saxon den-tun meaning 'valley farmstead'. Indeed, Denton is situated in a fold of the landscape, between the two hills on which Cuddesdon and Garsington sit.
Denton is an ancient manor and until the twentieth century formed a separate civil parish of its own, but was merged with neighbouring Cuddesdon.
