Denny Myers

Lt. Dennis Edward Myers (born November 10, 1905, in Algona, IA, died May 31, 1957) is a former football player and head coach. He attended the University of Iowa and signed with the Chicago Bears in 1931 and played two games as a guard. After his retirement from the NFL, he served as the line coach at Yale and Brown. On March 14, 1941 he was announced as the new football coach at Boston College, replacing Frank Leahy, who had left to coach the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. In his first two seasons, he posted records of 7-3 and 8-2. In 1943 he left Boston College to serve in the United States Navy. After being discharged, he returned to Boston College and posted 3 winning seasons and one 4-4-1 season before being fired in 1950 after a disastrous 0-9-1 record.
