Dennis Wilshaw

Dennis James Wilshaw, (born 11 March 1926 at Stoke-on-Trent; died 10 May 2004 at Stoke-on-Trent) was an English footballer. He joined Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. in 1944, managing a total of 117 goals in 232 matches for the club, winning the league in 1953-54. In 1957, the striker was transferred to Stoke City F.C., scoring 50 goals in 108 games. He retired from professional football in 1961.
Wilshaw played for the then Loughborough College and in 1948-49 the team which he was a member of won the UAU Championship for the third time. On Saturday 26 February 1949 he scored a hat-trick for Wolverhampton Wanderers against Newcastle United F.C.. [1]
Wilshaw also earned 12 caps for the England national football team. He scored 10 goals, including 4 goals in a 7-2 win[1] against Scotland at Wembley Stadium in 1955. He played in the 1954 FIFA World Cup, scoring 1 goal against Switzerland.
