From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dennis John Bennett (born October 5, 1939 in Oakland, California) is a former starting pitcher in Major League Baseball who played for the Philadelphia Phillies (1962-1964), Boston Red Sox (1965-1967), New York Mets (1967) and California Angels (1968). He batted and threw left handed.
In a seven-season career, Bennett posted a 43-47 record with 572 strikeouts and a 3.69 ERA in 863.0 innings pitched, including six shutouts and 28 complete games.
Dennis' brother Dave achieved an unusual honor due to copy on his baseball card, No. 561 (Topps) in 1964. The copy on Dave read, "The 19-year-old righthanded curveballer is just 18 years old!"
Dennis Bennett has recently admitted to steroid use during his playing career.
