Denis O'Brien (March 13, 1837 Ogdensburg, St. Lawrence County, New York - May 18, 1909 Watertown, Jefferson County, New York) was an American lawyer and politician.

He was admitted to the bar in 1861. He was Mayor of Watertown before being elected as a Democrat New York State Attorney General in 1883. He was re-elected in 1885. In 1889 he was elected a judge of the New York Court of Appeals and remained on the bench until 1907.
He died from appendicitis at his home in Watertown.
His son John F. O'Brien also was a judge of the New York Court of Appeals.
