Denham Springs is a city in Livingston Parish, Louisiana, United States, and part of the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Area. The population was 10,206 at a 2005 population estimate.

Denham Springs is located at 30°28′47″N, 90°57′15″W (30.479739, -90.954105)[1].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.1 square miles (15.7 km²), of which, 6.0 square miles (15.6 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.66%) is water.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 8,757 people, 3,308 households, and 2,431 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,452.5 people per square mile (560.7/km²). There were 3,550 housing units at an average density of 588.8/sq mi (227.3/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 84.58% White, 13.32% African American, 0.25% Native American, 0.67% Asian, 0.08% Pacific Islander, 0.17% from other races, and 0.92% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.89% of the population.

There were 3,308 households out of which 35.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.3% were married couples living together, 14.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.5% were non-families. 22.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.65 and the average family size was 3.11.

In the city the population was spread out with 26.8% under the age of 18, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 29.4% from 25 to 44, 22.9% from 45 to 64, and 11.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 90.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.5 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $41,296, and the median income for a family was $48,793. Males had a median income of $35,820 versus $24,286 for females. The per capita income for the city was $18,603. About 7.3% of families and 10.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 12.2% of those under age 18 and 15.2% of those age 65 or over.
