Denemo is a free software graphical interface for music notation, mainly to GNU LilyPond, a program for engraving musical scores. It uses GTK+ 2.0 and works on Linux, although there are ports to Darwin and it can be built and run under Microsoft Windows.

Denemo helps prepare notation for publishing with LilyPond. Denemo does not strive to display all notation graphically or be the most complete graphic environment. Denemo is not a WYSIWYG editor for music notation (like Finale or Sibelius), but rather a visual interface for speedy note entry. It is possible to add extra refinements using the LilyPond language from within Denemo or to save in LilyPond format for editing textually. It can also output MIDI files and ABC music notation.

Denemo is very keyboard centric with all music notation functions accessible via keyboard shortcuts. The design philosophy is that computer music notation can be faster when one only uses a keyboard, rather than keyboard and mouse. However, everything can be accessed via the mouse, and the keyboard shortcuts can be defined using the menu items that invoke the functions. It is also possible to input pitches by playing them into a microphone, which provides musicians with a natural interface. The current stable version of Denemo is 0.7.8.
