[edit] Your VandalProof Application

Dear DemosDemon,

Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that at this time you do not meet the minimum requirement of 250 edits to mainspace articles (see under main here). Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. - GIen 09:11, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Metal Gear characters

This really isn't vandalism. Please see WP:AGF. The user's edit was a good faith effort to improve the encyclopedia. And even if it was vandalism, it in no way warrants the test4im template, which should only be used in very serious cases of vandalism. -- Steel 00:02, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

I used test4im because I suspected it of the same previous IP that was repeatedly putting the same info on the page after not only I had removed it. DemosDemon (Talk - contrib) 00:05, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
Oh, it's clear that this user is the same person as that IP. Bear in mind test4im's should be used, say, if a user blanks an entire article leaving only "COCKSUCKER", or something. Like I said, this is only borderline vandalism at worst. -- Steel 00:07, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
Here's my first attempt at an explanation regarding this info. Of course not everything in relations to MGS can be 100% fact and some of it is based on speculation. I'm sure if you're an MGS fan you have heard this before regarding Meryl's torture but even as horrible as it sounds, it goes without saying that certain dialogue and events lead people to the conclusion of Meryl's rape.
When you save her in MGS, she mentions going through pain and shame all while not giving in to her torture and "things worse than that". Now I do recall an article here about women being raped and tortured during wars (even events where that were denied abortions and had to suffer embarassment of having the unwanted child and I think that means of abuse may apply to Meryl's case given this is a stealth and war themed game. Not many fans can think of many things that are shameful and worse than torture other than rape.
Also the character of Volgin strengthened this theory since we can safely say Volgin has sexually abused EVA. To be fair, it is argued that it was EVA's mission to get close to Volgin, but that aside she obviously expresses pain and suffering from her whip marks and when Volgin shocks her. It is heavily implied that the character of Volgin inspired Ocelot's twisted sadist side since MGS3 is in ways, a prequel to the series and shows Ocelot express interest in torture after Volgin does it to Snake and Sokolov.
With that this argument has had many people come to that conclusion and it even has gained Meryl's character more repect in the MGS community considering her rookie nature, she was able to withstand horrible acts to her (being shot at by Wolf as well) and overcame that for Solid Snake. That was my reasonong behind it as well as the fact that I saw this theory posted before but it was removed prior to her article being shortened and part of a list.
Still I wish to place it back like it was originally not only for the reasons above not to mention that it also leaves room for interpretation in the MGS community to her role in MGS4 and for the possibility of why Snake and Meryl broke up. MGS4 can go into further detail why since not much is explained as to why they fell in love and fell apart.
