Talk:Demonoid (band)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
No need to go around and diss the band, it's just a matter of opinion, but the tracker needs its own page.
Shouldn't we clarify whether it is the band or the bittorrent tracker???
Dear god yes, why in the world and who decided ever swedish/norwegian/etc death/horror/agressive/etc metal band deserves its own page and to be constantly linked throughout the wiki to all manner of other articles. I first started running into this with cthulhu pages, then comics, now when looking for background on a bittorrent tracker. --68.231.174.183 13:45, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
Surpised to see this type of article?
I am still learning about the type of allowed articles. I realize that the Beatles, Rolling Stones, or Pink Floyd are noteworthy bands. However, what about obscure bands, like a high school rock band? Is a certain level of fame or notoriety required? Is it that this article is not inherently self-promoting?
why is there an article on an obscure deathmetal band with like a fanbase of about 50 people while demonoid.com the bittorrent website with hundreds of thousands of members is not mentioned?
I have to agree that this band seems a little less significant than demonoid.com, the page shows that the forums have 2 million users. Unless someone can show that this band is of equal or greater significance (eg. reviews in papers, websites) then i would suggest reinstating demonoid.com with a disambig link to this page. [edit] Need tracker page
I'm not expert enough at wiki editing to make a disambiguation page and include both the band and the tracker on it, but I feel that the tracker is much better known than the band, so the tracker should at least have a wiki page. I have made a start of a page at Demonoid (BitTorrent), but it needs a lot of expansion. Could the right people do this? See the talk page of that page for more information.

- I don't think a disambiguation page is necessary in this case as there are only two uses of this word. I have added a link to the BT tracker article at the top of this one. dystopianray 07:06, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

- Thanks - hopefully that new page will get some content soon - I'll try to work on it if I get some spare time. --Wierdy1024 21:21, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

- The Torrent page has been deleted, and the former page where it was has been protected from being created, as per a VfD. I too came for information about the tracker page. Chalk another one up for the deletionists.

I guess I am a little confused, why did they delete the page about the extremely popular tracker but they leave a page for an obscure Swedish metal band that released its only CD 3 or so years ago? 69.251.68.76 00:59, 12 July 2007 (UTC) Adam
- Some people take it as a holy mission to remove all mention that illegal activity happens on the Internet. I would posit that those same people need to be relieved of their status for a blatant conflict of interest. ;) Orethrius 07:57, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
