Talk:Demographics of Côte d'Ivoire

[edit] Effects of the civil war
When it says "estimates for this country explicitly take into account the effects of excess mortality due to AIDS; this can result in lower life expectancy, higher infant mortality and death rates, lower population and growth rates, and changes in the distribution of population by age and sex than would otherwise be expected",
does it consider the effects of civil war on the country's population. There are no references to casualties from civil war in the article about Côte d'Ivoire's civil war, but demographic experts believe they are of at least some significance (also in other sub-saharan African nations).
[edit] French?
Are there any remnants of the French colony such as Frenchmen living in Cote d'Ivoire as citizens? Do they live all in one common area and do they have their own culture such as the Afrikaners in South Africa? -User:Working for Him (I'm currently signed out)
