Description: Demonstrators wave flags and chant in Nepalese, near the Thamel shopping area of Kathmandu, Nepal. There was no violence at this point but off image (behind the camera) there is a heavy military/police presence (although this is was not unusual - during this time (April 04) there was often a heavy military/police presence). Later in the day low degree violence took place involving the police/military and protesters both from this group and those with communist flags. Bricks/Rocks were thrown and tear gas used. Demonstrations such as this seemed to be fairly regular and caused traffic hold ups.

The flags being waved is that of the Nepali Congress, made up of three horizontal and equal bands, the upper and lower are red and the middle band is white. The white band contains three or more small red stars (you can't tell from the photograph and I can't remember how many). Many of the demonstrators are wearing blue bands tied around the head with white Nepalese writing.
