A brakeman for the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad, in January 1943, demonstrates a signal indicating "stop" with a fusee.

Photo by Jack Delano, United States Office of War Information. Library of Congress call number LC-USW36-630. [1] (retrieved November 23, 2005) asserts "Photographs in this collection were taken by photographers working for the U.S. Government.
