[edit] History
According to Uncle in Day of the Dragon, thousands of Demon Sorcerers have existed through out history, however only eight (nine if including Drago) are featured in Jackie Chan Adventures. They each represent a different element from which their powers are based: Fire, Water, Sky, Moon, Earth, Mountain, Wind and Thunder. At least seven of the demon sorcerers were banished to the Demon Netherworld by the Eight Immortals, the ancient heroes of China. It is also implied Shendu was banished originally with the rest of his brethren, though how he surfaced on Earth 900 years prior to the events of the first season is unknown. Having absorbed the talisman powers of the rest of the noble animals, the warrior Lo Pei was able to turn him into a statue by exploiting these powers and extracting them into the Talismans. Shendu continues to be a recurring character, while the other Demons appear only in slightly altered form after someone absorbs their Demon Chi.
[edit] Sorcerers
[edit] Tchang Zu
Japanese Name: Oni
Appearance: Tall, muscular, and blue, ogre-like with spiky protrusions above his brow and chin, red eyes, wears dark blue Greco-Roman armor.
Immortal Item: Castanets
Immortal Banisher: Royal Uncle Cao
Element: Thunder
Portal Location: Hollywood, Los Angeles
Voice Actor: Frank Welker
The Demon Sorcerer of Thunder, He was banished by the Immortal Cao Guojiu. Tchang Zu's portal is located in Hollywood, California. It is, ironically, contained within a door on a movie studio lot, and the Immortal who defeated him was known as an actor. After Tchang Zu's release, he sought to reclaim his palace, only to find it had been paved over into a parking lot. He then attempted to claim the Chinese Theatre for his abode, but was banished again by the Chans. Tchang Zu later confronted the J-Team in Demon World, Part 2 atop Hsi Wu's tower, but was banished thanks to Paco, who happened to have a pair of castanets. It's interesting to note that Tchang Zu had no dialogue in either part of the Demon World saga. The Immortal castanet containing traces of the Thunder Demon Chi was found aboard the Oceanic, a sunken ship. It was claimed by Drago, who took over the Space Needle for access to its storms, which could enhance the Thunder powers, but it was removed by Uncle. Drago absorbed the Chi later with the rest of the Demon Chi, and traces of it were invested in his cronies. In the video game adaption of the television series, Tchang Zu is the fifth Demon Sorcerer to be released by the Dark Hand. Unlike being released in Los Angeles in the show, he is released in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. He is defeated by the powers of the Dragon Talisman before being sealed away by Uncle.
[edit] Po Kong

The Demon Sorceress of Mountain, she was banished by the Immortal Zhang Guo Lao. Po Kong's portal is located in his former domain of Japan. Using a drum found at the site, the Chans then banished her once more. Po Kong appeared in Demon World, Part 2, and attempted to devour them again. However, Tohru was enslaved in her domain, and aided the Chans by banging on a nearby drum to banish her. Po Kong's Chi was located in the Canadian city, Quebec, within a pair of chopsticks, made from the Immortal drumsticks that banished Po Kong. Tohru accidentally absorbed the Chi when he used the chopsticks to eat a midnight snack of pork fried rice. Drago managed to very briefly absorb the Chi, but it was drained from him along with his own. But was later reabsorbed with the rest of the Demon Chi in the final confrontation with Drago. In the video game adaption of the television show, Po Kong was the first Demon Sorcerer to be released. Her portal is located in an ancient Japanese castle, where she is released by the Dark Hand, landing on them in the process. Jackie manages to knock her out by firing cannons at her. Uncle unexpectedly appears and seals her away. In this incarnation, Po Kong can fire heat beams from her eyes and can roll about as a large ball creating shockwaves.

Xiao Fung disguised himself, and escaped into the tunnels beneath the prison. After a pitched battle, he was banished again. He appeared in the Demon World episodes, and forced El Toro Fuerte and another wrestler to battle gladiatorially. He was banished by, ironically, the fan his servant Paco was using to fan him. His demon Chi was found at a local Car Wash and was accidentally absorbed by Jade, turning her bad burping habits into major windstorms. Drago managed to temporarily absorb the Chi, but it was drained again. Drago was later able to absorb it with the rest of the Demon Chi in the final battle. Traces of it were infused within Drago's minions when he sent them to destroy Section 13. In the video game adaption, Xiao Fung is the second Demon Sorcerer to be released. His portal is located in a prison, but Alcatraz Island this time, hidden deep in underground caverns built underneath the island. He tries to devour Jackie but his attack is disrupted when Jackie manages to fool him into absorbing rocks, causing him to be defeated. Uncle and Jade appear and seal Xiao Fung.
[edit] Tso Lan
Japanese Name: Kyuuketsuki
Appearance: Resembles a mix of modern views of Count Dracula and Korean nobility in appearance, red eyes, black hair, and a purple and red kimono.
Immortal Item: Lotus
Immortal Banisher: Immortal Woman He
Element: Moon

The Demon Sorcerer of Moon, He was banished by the Immortal He Xiangu. Tso Lan's portal is located halfway between the Earth and the Moon. Using a space station in that orbit, the Dark Hand was able to open Tso Lan's portal. He then set about covering the moon with his magic. He planned to pull it out of its orbit, wrecking Earth's landscapes and adapting them to his liking. He was defeated, and banished with a lotus pod in the Demon World saga, Tso Lan was one of the final four Demons left unbanished to challenge the J-Team. He fought El Toro, and managed to defeat him. However, he was banished with the rest. His demon Chi was located in a lotus pod in a zoo habitat, and briefly absorbed by a Panda. Drago got hold of it, and engaged an Earth Chi carrying Jackie, who held off Drago long enough for Uncle to remove the Moon Chi from Drago. It was drained from Drago, but was reabsorbed during the final confrontation with him. In the video game adaption of the television series, Tso Lan is the third Demon Sorcerer to be released. His portal is still in outer space, but this time on the surface of the moon, hidden deep within a futuristic temple to Tso Lan. Jackie crash lands a shuttle onto the moon in search of Talismans but must battle Tso Lan. Tso Lan battles Jackie but is defeated by gravity-manipulating machines. He is sealed away by Uncle, who once again appears unexpectedly.
[edit] Dai Gui
Japanese Name: Shishi
Appearance: A humongous minotaur-like creature with the face of a Shisa, large green horns, red eyes and a muscular body. Is considered the least intelligent of the Demon Sorcerers.
Immortal Item: Flower
Immortal Banisher: Lan Caihe

Portal Location: Spain
Voice Actor: Frank Welker
The Demon Sorcerer of Earth, Dai Gui was banished by the Immortal Lan Caihe. However, upon his return, he was unable to be banished until Uncle awoke from a magic-induced slumber, revealing the final ingredient necessary to banish him. He was one of the final four to challenge the J-Team, and battled Tohru. He was banished, but his Demon Chi surfaced inside of a flower. Jackie later absorbed the Chi in order to do battle with a Moon-powered Drago. The chi was removed from Jackie just after Uncle places the Moon Chi in the Containment Unit. It was later absorbed by Jade's friend Larry when it left the containment unit temporarily and later absorbed by Drago along with the seven other demon chi. Traces of it was later placed into Strikemaster Ice when Drago sent him to destroy Section 13. In the video game adaption, Dai Gui is the fourth Demon Sorcerer to be released. His portal is located in a Spanish castle. There, he battles Jackie but is knocked unconscious after repeatedly being struck by falling rock columns. Uncle arrives just in time to seal him.
[edit] Hsi Wu
Japanese Name: Tokage
Appearance: A blue impish bat/gremlin-like demon with a lizard-like tail, is the smallest of the Demon Sorcerers.
Immortal Item: Flute
Immortal Banisher: Philosopher Han Xiang
Element: Sky
Portal Location: Fenway Park, Boston
The Demon Sorcerer of Sky, he was banished by the Immortal Han Xiang Zi. Though he managed to escape his portal at the beginning of the episode he appeared, Hsi Wu lost his tail to the Chans. Because of chi spell Uncle had cast, Hsi Wu couldn't enter the Chan's home uninvited. Disguising himself as a boy named Seymour, Hsi Wu fooled Jade into handing over the tail but he was soon banished again when his tail fused with him, as it contained a sealing spell. During the Demon World saga, Hsi Wu lived in a large tower with Viper as his songbird slave, but the J-Team banished him while he was taking a bath. His chi was found in an immortal flute in a carousel pipe organ in Australia. Drago followed the class to a haunted house and fought Jade's teacher. The duo demon powers awakened evil spirits in the house. In the end, Uncle managed to recover the sky demon chi and the spirits once again rested. Drago managed to absorb the chi (along with the other seven powers) in the final confrontation. In the video game adaption, Hsi Wu is the sixth Demon Sorcerer to be released. His portal is located in Fenway Park. Unlike in the show where he struck a friendship with Jade, he mindlessly attacked her with heat blasts, but he is knocked out by Jackie using a baseball autogun.
[edit] Bai Tza
Japanese name: Nisei
Appearance: Blue Skinned Mermaid-like demon with tentacles on her head.
Immortal Item: Gourd
Immortal Banisher: Iron-Crutch Li

Even with the aid of Valmont, the Chans were unable to banish her the first time they met her. Her original home, Atlantis, was sunk so she later unleashed a tsunami to sink San Francisco as her new empire, but was banished, inadvertently taking Jade with her. She was one of the final four Demons to challenge the J-Team, and overcame Viper, but ended up banished and defeated. Her demon Chi was contained in a gourd used as a prize on a game show. Despite the Chans competition, Drago got to it, and absorbed the Chi. However, he lost it shortly thereafter. It was later reabsorbed by Drago during the final confrontation along with the rest of the Demon Chi. In the video game adaption, she was the last Demon Sorcerer to be released. Her portal appeared in the hideout of the Dark Hand rather than in Rome, and she was easily beaten by Jackie.
[edit] Shendu
Japanese Name: Kiryu (Leader)
Appearance: Humanoid mix of a Chinese and European dragon.
Immortal Item: Sword
Immortal Banisher: Lü Dongbin
Element: Fire
Portal Location: Hong Kong Moose World, Hong Kong, China
Voice: James Sie, João Batista, Araken Saldanha (Brazil)
Shendu was once the ruler of China, but his subjects rebelled with Lo Pei, who turned him into a statue, and then scattered his twelve powers in the form of twelve talismans. Shendu vowed revenge, but was unable to do so for 900 years. He eventually teamed up with the Dark Hand, promising them a lost treasure in exchange for the talismans. They finally recovered them, and Shendu came to life, raising his palace. However, Shendu was blasted into dust by Jade Chan. In his first appearance he possesses a raspy, hissing voice, once he is reanimated for the first time he has a deeper, more menacing voice. Once he is turned back into a statue he retains his hissing, raspy voice from then on (even when he was reanimated once again). His roars also sound like that of the Tyrannosaurs of the Jurassic Park films.
Shendu returned as a spirit and was revealed to be the Fire Demon, one of eight Demon Sorcerers - he had originally been banished with the rest of his brethren by the eight immortals to the Demon Netherworld, but had somehow resurfaced in China before Lo Pei turned him to stone (this detail is never touched upon in the series). He ended up trapped in Valmont's body by mistake, but was eventually banished back into the Demon Nether World. He escaped and possessed Jackie Chan to rewrite the Book of Ages. He made the Dark Hand and the Chan family into his slaves, but Jade escaped the time alteration and assembled the J-Team against him, fighting again.
Shendu was resurrected at the hands of Daolon Wong in exchange for the Dragon Talisman's power (since he is in fact the last living dragon on earth) but double-crossed him, taking the Dragon power as well as both the Pig and Rooster powers that Wong had acquired previously. Shendu managed to reclaim all his powers, but unknown to him Uncle Chan discovered the ancient spell that turned Shendu into a statue. Uncle Chan suspected that Daolon Wong had knowledge of the ancient spell. In the end Uncle Chan, Tohru and Section 13 used the spell to turn Shendu back into his statue form and at the same time recreated the Talismans.
Shendu was later revealed to have a son, a junior fire demon by the name of Drago. Coming from an alternate future, Drago attempted to use the magical Dragon's Teeth to free Shendu. However, Drago accidentally destroyed the teeth, preventing the spell from coming to pass. Drago was captured, but escaped only to abandon his father in favor of the Chi of the Demon Sorcerers (his aunts and uncles). When Drago held Jackie, Uncle, and Captain Black captive, Jade removed a piece of Shendu's skin to use in a spell against his son, due to needing a DNA sample identical to Drago's. Later, Uncle went to Shendu seeking a way to strip Drago of the eight demon powers. Shendu told Uncle that it was impossible, and asked Uncle to free him so he could defeat Drago. When Drago grew close to turning Earth into Demon World, Uncle relented, using a spell to free Shendu from his statue imprisonment. Freed, Shendu battled Drago, but was outmatched by his offspring. To give Shendu a fighting chance, the J-Team gave him the Talismans. Tohru and Uncle then used a spell to send both Demons plummeting into the netherworld, ending their threat and sealing both Talismans and Demon Chi away forever.
Shendu has the power of all the talismans (since the powers of the talismans were originally his but were stripped of him and each power turned to a talisman. Each based on the Chinese Zodiac).

[edit] Drago
Japanese name: Ryuki
Appearance: A more human-like dragon than Shendu that wears a black, sleeveless leather jacket with a flame design and red sash. Whenever he absorbs the demon chi of his aunts or uncles he also develops some of their physical traits.
Ring: Fire (as well as that of the Chi of his aunts or uncles he absorbs)
Voice: Michael Rosenbaum
Drago is Shendu's teenaged son who came back from the future to free him using Dragon Teeth. However this plan failed when the present and future Jades tricked him into destroying the Dragon Teeth and incarcerated him in Section 13.
In the fifth season he escapes from imprisonment and begins hunting down the Demon Chi of his aunts and uncles. He initially hired the Enforcers as his minions, providing them with dragon-like appearances and powers but in the end fired them and took back the power he gave them, realizing he needed more competent allies. Later he met the Ice gang and gave them dragon powers and made them his minions instead. He has little success in gaining the Chi. Drago is characterized with having a witty and wannabe gangster-like personality, probably because of being a teenager and partially from hanging around the Ice Gang. In the end he even had his own fire demon chi removed. To gain back the Demon Chi he holds Uncle and Jackie hostage and demands the Demon Chi as ransom from Tohru and Jade. He absorbs all of the Demon Chi and becomes an enormous, immensely powerful gargoyle-like monster and begins wreaking havoc on the world by bringing demons into the world. The J-Team, the Enforcers and Shendu all work together to fight Drago, the Ice gang and the demons. In the end Tohru and Uncle perform a spell to send all the demons and demon chi into the Netherworld, when Drago is about to be sucked in, he begs for his father's help who reluctantly agrees, only to be betrayed when Drago pulls him into the pit with him and both fall in, thus sealing away all of the Demon Chi (absorbed by Drago) and the Talismans (absorbed by Shendu) in the Netherworld where the two demons are last seen fighting each other.
