Democratic People's Republic of Korea passports are issued to citizens of Democratic People's Republic of Korea to facilitate international travel.

The privilege of a passport in North Korea is limited to a select few. Membership of the Korean Workers' Party is essentially a requisite.

In the Passport note it says:

이 려권소지자는 조선민주주의인민공화국의 보호를 받습니다. 이 려권소지자를 지장없이 통과시켜 주며 그에게 필요한 편의와 보호를 베풀어 줄것을 모든 관계자들에게 요청하는 바입니다.

The holder of the passport is under protection of Democratic People's Republic of Korea. All of those whom (it) may concern are hereby requested to allow the holder to pass freely without delay or hindrance, and to afford the holder with assistance and protection as may be necessary.

According to a study done by Henley & Partners, North Korea has a Henley Visa Restrictions Index of 18, which means that North Korean citizens enjoy visa-free access to 18 countries and territories for short-term tourism visits. North Korea is ranked 78th in terms of international travel freedom, along with the People's Republic of China passport, which are one of the lowest scores in the study.
