Nightwish is the first demo by Nightwish. At first it was untitled, but today it's known by the name Nightwish. Recorded from October to December of 1996, it is an acoustic album on which Emppu plays acoustic guitars. The group's name, Nightwish, comes from the first song they recorded together, and the demo included this song along with "The Forever Moments" and "Etiäinen". The initial idea of the band was to create music similar to the music played around campfires. However, after the recording, Tuomas Holopainen realized that Turunen's operatic voice was too powerful for such a project and decided to add metal elements. The spoken part in the intro of "Etiäinen" is by Tuomas. All songs were composed by Tuomas. "Etiäinen" was later re-recorded as "Lappi (Lapland) Part IV: Etiäinen" and released on Angels Fall First. The song "The Forever Moments" was also re-recorded and released as part of "Lappi (Lapland)," although it was re-titled "This Moment is Eternity" and is part III of "Lappi (Lapland)."
