[edit] Discussion

I would support a standard look for all the deletion templates.

As I've said before, I think they need to stand out more from the wall-o'-cleanup. Background shading is one way, and complete border rather than just left side border is another (For example, see Template:Ifd). They should also be at the top of an article (though below a "protected" template"), and probably have a "line space" between them and the "wall". For the shading, how about the "blue" of the Wikipedia space background when used on "white" pages (such as article space), and white when used on blue pages (such as category space). (Speedy should stay pink, of course.) - jc37 15:36, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

I found this proposal rather by accident although I've been following the discussions at Wikipedia:Article message boxes for some weeks now. You should advertise it a little better. ;-) Anyway, I really like the red border around your proposed "Images for Deletion" template and think it would look good on/around the current "Articles for Deletion" and "Speedy Deletion". I don't know what to do with the "Miscellany for Deletion" template; the green really does not go with the red, but I don't know in how far the people who deal with it every day want to give up on the color. I am fine with both the old "Templates for Deletion" version or your suggestion. – sgeureka t•c 14:54, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
The green border's totally unnecessary. There's only one editor that's resisted changing the MfD template that I know of. I don't think the red border for Images for Deletion is necessary either, although I like the big icon (85px) used in the current template. We can't do more than 50px in regular ambox without some tweaks, though we could do two of them at 50px, left and right.--Father Goose 05:59, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
I agree that they have to be more noticeable than the typical cleanup, etc. templates. Deletion is quite a big deal and should catch the attention of the viewer. I think the images for deletion is going in the right direction. Its noticeable and provides easy to read information, the collapseable info is really good. I think the new merger one is really good. --Billy 02:54, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Message box standardisation

To standardise the look of message boxes in image space and category space we have now coded up some suggestions. See the new meta-templates {{imbox}} and {{cmbox}} and discuss the design for them at their talk pages.

I will announce this standardisation effort in the appropriate places here at Wikipedia during the next few days.
