[edit] Kenneth Joseph DeLuca
( autobiographical notes written in the third person )
Born 23/Nov/1946 in Waterbury Connecticut, USA Active in the Civil Rights and Anti-Viet Nam War movement in the 1960s, DeLuca moved to Canada in 1967 becoming a citizen in 1973.
Forty years of his adult life have centered around communications and community which he considers to be kindred concepts. He and his family have lived in Arnprior, Ontario since 1989. Here both his employment and volunteer contributions have reflected this commitment to commuinity. In his 2006 election campaign for an Arnprior Council seat, he said, "We each live not only as individuals, but also as members of a collective community. Our growth as whole persons takes place at both levels. " His election web page details his volunteer work in a variety of areas from daycare to seniors, from community networking to heritage and on and on. [1]
Politically, he considers himself a Social-Democrat and is happy to live in a nation that prospers from both mixed economy and a strong parliamentary democracy. His political philosphy is seen in his guest presentations to grade five students on civics: He tells them that they already know what government is all about because their Kindergarten teachers taught them to be caring, to share things and get along with each other. And that's what government is all about Caring, Sharing and Getting Along.
Despite an on-going battle with cancer, DeLuca continues to contribute to his community with volunteer work on behalf of Seniors-at-Home [2] and The Arnprior & McNab/Braeside Archives [3].
DeLuca is extremely proud of his wife, Karen and their two daughters Erika and Laura.
