Important steps in the treatment of neurotrauma included the development of intracranial pressure monitoring, which allowed doctors to gauge how high the pressure within the skull was; techniques that allowed monitoring of cerebral blood flow and the brain's electrophysiology; use of mechanical ventilation; and advances diagnosis and monitoring of people with TBI.[1] The Glasgow Coma Scale allowed individuals to be assessed and compared with other patients.[1]
