[edit] Objective Tone
I have to remind everyone that this is an encyclopedia not a fan forum. This article should be spoken from a neutral point of view, and right now it reads more like an advertisement. Please fix this, and remember to be bold! Wizardry Dragon 16:58, 19 April 2006 (UTC) Wizardry Dragon 19:16, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
To second this, it is probably the most horrendously 'fanish' of all Wiki music-star entries and could do with a top-to-bottom overhaul. John the mackem 16:52, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
I've had a read through the article, made some minor changes, but I do not think that it is very 'fanish' at all. Would you mind giving me an example from the article as to why you think it reads like an advertisement? Thecontroller 16:28, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
I have spent several hours editing the "fanish / rubbish" way this page had been written. Have removed irrelevant and unsubstatiated tabloid gossip, including several ridiculous personal comments / rumours about Delta's personal life, Delta's mother and Brian McFadden. Kerrie Sherwood - 29th June 2006
[edit] Edited vocal type
Someone listed Goodrem's vocal type in her vocal profile as "lyric coloratura soprano", which, to be honest, is very optimistic at best. (This , as I understand, describes a voice characterised by an operatic head voice that extends into the whistle register, reminiscent of Mariah Carey; see vocal weight.) Thus, I changed this to "lyric mezzo-soprano", which I think is far more applicable.
In addition, I removed the categorical reference to whistle register singers. According to the whistle register article, this begins after note E6, which is outside the reported range in the vocal profile.
- I don't see a vocal profile anywhere on the page - Matthew238 04:43, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
I was the one that opened the whistle register debate, but I had to retract that. Her voice got weak since the time around the Visualise Tour & Channel V concerts, but since 'Together We Are One', her voice is so much more powerful and she can hold the higher notes consistently.124.197.37.127 03:28, 10 February 2007 (UTC)TimHowardII
[edit] DVD success in UK
DVD a huge success in the UK? Can you qualify this, I don't think I've even ever seen it on sale. pomegranate 02:53, Nov 6, 2004 (UTC)

Have deleted all irrelevant gosssip on this subject. Kerrie Sherwood - 29th June 2006
[edit] Dated material
Her debut album Innocent Eyes was released March 3, 2003, and has been in the charts at or near the top since, and featured five Australian No 1 singles.
I highly doubt that Innocent Eyes is still at or near the top of the charts almost two years after its release. Could this be edited to reflect something which won't date so easily? I don't know enough to do it myself. - Vague | Rant 09:00, Feb 7, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Clean up
I NPOV'd a lot of the article, and added some bits and pieces here and there, but I'm no expert so if you see anything wrong feel free to change it immediately. --plattopus (talk) 18:29, Mar 23, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Highest Note
Where in predictable song does delta go up to an A6. In that song at the end she does a little scream that only goes up to a B5.
[edit] Born to Try release
Amazon has Born to Try with a January 2006 release date. Has it been pushed back? Mike H (Talking is hot) 23:31, 13 October 2005 (UTC)
I'm removing Born To Try from the Discography because it will not be released in America. Delta has decided to go with a completely new one so please don't add it again. Harry** 12:50, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
Sorry, but it will have to stay but if you can back that up with sorces then it may be able to be removed. Lillygirl

[edit] Genuine "Delta" American Dollars
Genuine implies that these "Delta" dollars were legitimate, non-counterfeit currency. Could you actually pay with them in the United States? Please verify and state the source.
- Obviously they could not be "genuine" in the same way as the dollars with George Washington's face on them are, printed by the US Treasury. - Matthew238 03:53, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Split with Philippoussis
Mention is made of comments by Paris Hilton about her split with Mark Philippoussis, yet there is nothing in the page previously about them having broken up, or of Hilton's alleged role in it. - 04:25, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Whistle Register Singer
Just been reading through the history. But, is there any audio source to verify that Delta can sing in the whistle register? I've never actually heard her sing that high before; and unless there's evidence of her reaching those notes, I do question whether or not Delta should be in the whistle register singers category. I'm not editing the article in regards to this at the moment, but someone should post a reference. - Highconclave 10:39, 24 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Remix CD
There is no official announcement of a Delta Remix CD on either the sonybmg site or the Delta Goodrem site. In fact I'm finding it difficult to trace the source of this information (and the alleged tracklist). Until there's solid evidence I don't think rumours of new releases should be thrown about the main page.
- I agree. I've searched and haven't been able to find a single source for the claims, not even on her own website.. Further, the so-called album cover looks like a doctored version of a picture on her official site. Sarah Ewart 03:03, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Unverifiable album
I've moved this text here until it can be sourced and verified:
Delta Goodrem: Remixed
In a bid to keep Delta’s Aussie fans happy, Sony Bmg Australia has announced that Delta will be releasing a remix CD. Since Delta will not be able to record any new material due to her US priorities Sony Bmg Australia thought it was important to have a CD out for the fans. The CD will feature all her hits and a few other tracks that have never been before released. The CD is said to be remixed by Mark Dynamix the mastermind behind the Australian Ministry of Sounds complications. The album is expected to be released on September 18th, 2006.

[edit] Planned Cleanup
If nobody objects in the next few days, I propose the following cleanup:
[edit] Cancer
Removal of the following pieces of text unless sources can be found:
Goodrem's management team were criticised for using her illness to attract favourable media coverage. Goodrem later revealed: "I was sitting there trying to get my head around the fact I could die and I was being told that I could somehow use this to my advantage."
There were even rumours that the cancer was a deliberate hoax to gain publicity. Although completely unfounded, these had likely stemmed from the fact that she had continued to make public appearances, and very much remained in the public eye, for several months after the diagnosis. It is worth bearing in mind, however, that Goodrem had already achieved major chart success prior to her illness with four successive number 1 releases to her name.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^ You can find information on the above in the book "delta" by Kerrie Davies, published by Allen & Unwin in 2005. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^
When asked why Goodrem worked so hard to promote the album in spite of her illness, she said, '"Not Me, Not I" is so special to me that I had to film a clip for it, just as I did for the other singles from the album.
The following piece seems like conjecture:
though it was apparent that the treatment was taking its toll on her.
I propose it is removed.
[edit] Out of the Blue
Removal of the part in bold unless a source is supplied:
In October, Goodrem released the debut single from her second album, Mistaken Identity. The song, written with UK writer/producer, Guy Chambers (former cohort of Robbie Williams) was called "Out Of The Blue", and was about Goodrem's new relationship with Mark Philippoussis.
[edit] Mistaken Identity
This section contains a lot of information about rumours without any sources and also seems to contain a few completely seperate pieces of information. I propose the following rewrite:
[edit] Mistaken Identity
Goodrem's second album Mistaken Identity was released on November 7, 2004 and debuted at number 1 in Australia, also charting in the UK, Germany and Switzerland. The album saw Delta once again working with with songwriters such as Cathy Dennis, Gary Barlow and Matthew Gerrard ("Lost Without You") among others including Billy Mann (who has worked with P!nk and Jessica Simpson).
In Australia, "Mistaken Identity" the album's title track, debuted and peaked at number 7 in January 2005. The track was not promoted as Delta was in the UK at the time, promoting "Almost Here" with Brian McFadden. "Mistaken Identity" went Gold, but did not stay in the chart for as long as her previous singles. In the UK, "Almost Here" debuted at number 3, her equal best, although no further singles were released from "Mistaken Identity". "Almost Here" also debuted at number 1 in Australia, going Platinum.
On May 29th, she released her 4th single from "Mistaken Identity" - the up-tempo track, "A Little Too Late". It debuted and peaked at #13, whilst Goodrem was touring the country. A fifth single, the ballad "Be Strong", was released on September 26th, albeit as a digital-only release. The B-Sides featured live performances of "Be Strong" and "Last Night On Earth" from the tour. Delta also became the face of Pepsi cola in Australia, recording a follow up to a campaign that had starred Britney Spears, P!nk, Enrique Iglesias and Beyoncé Knowles [1].
[edit] Bryan McFadden
On the "Mistaken Identity" album, Goodrem also collaborated with Irish singer Brian McFadden, formerly of boyband Westlife on a duet entitled "Almost Here". In early January 2005, newspaper reports suggested the pair were romantically engaged after being photographed together on a beach resort in South Africa, although both denied this.[2]. A week later on January 10th 2005, the Sunday Mirror reported that McFadden had admitted the relationship [3].
The couple underwent weeks of tabloid scrutiny, focusing particularly on the fallout of McFadden's marriage with former Atomic Kitten star Kerry Katona. Press speculation suggested that Goodrem and McFadden had embarked on their affair before McFadden had seperated with Katona. This was denied by both Goodrem [4] and McFadden [5]. A great deal of negative press followed the couple's announcement, including reports of the duo being booed off the stage at a Childline concert in Dublin, Ireland.
The negative press and tabloid rumour continued in the UK, made worse following increase in public affection for Kerry Katona after her victory on TV show I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!.
Rumours in April 2005 suggested that Bryan McFadden had proposed to Goodrem, although he denied this [6].
[edit] Breaking America
In April 2005, Goodrem's international record contract was extended to the USA, with Columbia Records, an imprint of Sony Music, licensing the USA rights to her music. Reports soon began to circulate that Columbia had issued an ultimatum to Goodrem to drop her manager - mother Lea Goodrem [7]. The rumour was denied by Goodrem and her mother, who stated that Lea was to remain as Delta's manager in Australia, and that Delta had always had plans to get a seperate manager in the US [8].
[edit] TOC
Many sections need to be merged in this article, as 20 Level 2 headings is just awful formatting. This is close to needing a cleanup tag on the article. Harro5 02:32, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
I've made a start, splitting things into categories more. It's not an easy one, as her life and career have been such a mishmash of different things.
[edit] Discography
I think to use the singles for the dicography is somewhat incorrect - it is the albums of an artists, not their singles which are the more relevant examples. See the following examples: Barenaked Ladies or Metallica for a better listing. The BNL listing has the benefit of eyecandy as the existing Delta one, and is a well constructed table of albums. -- Wizardry Dragon 23:10, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

Before I uploaded a recent picture of Delta showing her now and then it got changed to a picture taken 3 years ago. It isn't relevant now. Harry** 22:08, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

Please stop using unreferenced, uncited, copyrighted pictures for the article. This is against policy, and it is why the keep getting removed. Please use the offical press kit ones from Delta's site, they are the only pictures we are legally allowed to use. -- Wizardry Dragon (Talk to Me) (Support Neutrality on Wikipedia) 20:11, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] No point including rumors
I find it revolting that links to tabloids and runours are provided in this piece. This is not the place for such rubbish and I hope it stays deleted now that I have removed it. Tabloids do not speak for Delta and her personal life - any assumption that they are true is born from a delusion.
- Agreed. We should really only cite verifiable sources, except when the tabloid itself is the event. - Ta bu shi da yu 11:05, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
- P.S. you can sign your posts with ~~~~. - Ta bu shi da yu 11:06, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
- Wait a minute... there is an assumption here that "tabloid = lie". This is not necessarily the case and to be honest, a bit pretentious. In the UK, unlike in the US, the tabloids are incredibly powerful, and in some cases, well-respected newspapers. You say we should only use verifiable sources - like what? Goodrem's website? If so this page becomes nothing more than a marketing tool. The press and media are the source of much of our knowledge on current events - if the info had come from the BBC or CNN would it have been any more verifiable?
- I am left with the strong feeling that the points were removed because of their negative aspect toward Goodrem, and not because of any real issue with the source. An Encyclopedic biography should not be rose-tinted, it should be frank and unbiashed - "Warts n' all". Removing the 'nasty' bits will quickly degenerate this article back into the hopeless fan-site it was in the past, undoing a lot of good work by some hard-working people. John the mackem 07:14, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
- Well, though I see where you are coming from, tabloids have proven themselves to be unreliable. I think the concern here is that we don't republish slander and rumour that the tabloids print. If the tabloids print rumour, we should not source it unless there is a very good reason to do so. - Ta bu shi da yu 13:35, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
- "tabloids have proven themselves to be unreliable" - show me this proof. This is a rediculous generalisation. As I have already stated, the tabloids in the UK are the main part of the press. The term 'tabloid' does not mean the same as it does in the US. You are stereotyping an entire news medium based on your prejudice. John the mackem 07:01, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Request
Hey everyone.
I am requesting that someone adds to the Delta Goodrem page about her heavily rumoured duet with Tony Bennett for his Duets album. Reports say the song is called 'If I Ruled The World' and that the release will be out September 26, 2006.
Also, about Delta's recent Japanese campaign. Album out October 11, 2006. A new song of hers titled 'Fluid' will feature in a Japanese film. Information on this can be found in Delta's Diary on her official site, her forum and her Japanese official site
Thanks.
[edit] Very good article, however...
I must say that this article has improved out of sight since I last looked at it. Whoever has worked on it should give themselves a pat on their back. However.... there are a few issues. There is an extreme lack of sources, I would strongly encourage the use of <ref> tags, especially in her biography. This will help reduce any incorrect facts that get into this article. The other issue is: an encyclopedia article should not have a trivia section. If there is significant material in that section, it should be merged into the main body, otherwise it should be removed entirely from the article. - Ta bu shi da yu 11:04, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
edit : the song that is b eing released for the japenese movvie adiantium blue, is called FLAWED.
[edit] DVD section & Delta By Anabella
should it be deleted? the info in the section are in the main articles of the dvds. its somewhat pointless to have this in this article.
also, some mention of Delta's lingire range should be made.

[edit] Uk Releases
Just to let u all know, i ahve gone though and add the Uk single tracklistings, as wella s that ive added gallerys to multiple pages to allow all the single covers to be displayed, a list of remixes released over various singles has also been added to the various single plages
A new page for the Uk donwload of Throw It Away has also been created, and linked where i can, the one area i dont know how to add it into is the box at the bottom of most pages, in which the singles/albums/dvds etc are lsited, hopefully some1 else would be able to add it there
trauts25 22/11/06 9.50 pm (uk) - added it to the delta box! Good work Peter2012
thanks :D ive added information on some of the promo discs ive found out about, not sure if these are that essential, but added them anyway as some..in paticular NMNI have exrta tracks not previously released

[edit] GA Nomination
This looks like a pretty thorough article as of now. We might be able to add stuff on her technical singing ability (lowest/highest note) but that can be done later. Do you think this is ready to be considered a GA? TheKillerAngel 19:48, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
- Definately. This has become one of the best artist pages on Wikipedia, alot of work has gone into it. Peter2012
[edit] Picture
We need a more suitable picture. The current image is pointless, you can't even see her face.
hippi ippi 14:56, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah i know, i tried to change it but just got reverted. Lillygirl 22:52, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Number-one singles?
What happened to a full listing of her singles? Other articles of artists include all singles, not number one singles.
hippi ippi 07:34, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
- It choise you can make. You can add all the singles but there is a extra page of Delta's discography where all the singles are shown. Electric Storm89 13:12, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
- If you look at other artist articles such as Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, they also only display the number one singles on the main page as the seperate discography page features all the singles. Peter2012
[edit] GA failure
This is hardly a failure per se, as this article is a good one in many ways. It is relatively well-written, NPOV, and sourced - three things that the majority of articles don't have! My main concern is that it is simply too long and detailed, which is an issue for many articles on living pop artists. Going into detail on every collaboration with another artist, every single, the song she sang for her father's birthday party, and so on, is not entirely necessary; try and imagine what will be notable in 10-20 years, whether or not she is still a prominent star then. Will it matter that she was too busy to promote a particular single in Britain because she was promoting a different single, which was a duet with X singer from X band? There is a tough line to walk between comprehensiveness and extreme detail, particularly in the celebrity world, and I think this article is just a smidge on the far side of the line.
I recommend looking at Dannii Minogue, which I just promoted as a Good Article. That article covers 8 years in less space than it takes for this article to cover 2, and with no tremendous loss of comprehensiveness; it also puts details of her personal life into larger context, which I'm not sure this article does either (the information about her battle with cancer excepted). I also recommend asking for a peer review, which can take a long time and might not be extremely helpful but it will get more eyes on the article. My opinion is hardly authoritative but I hope you'll consider my suggestions, work on the article a bit more, and bring it up for GA again soon. Congrats on getting it to this high quality, and happy editing!--Dmz5*Edits**Talk* 01:16, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
- I have taken your advise on board and just spent a good 2 hours giving this article a dramataic cut down, to the content i see relevent in the present state. Obviously as the years go by, information that once seemed relevant will no longer be of great use. But its difficult to compare an aritst like Delta, who has only been around for 6 years, to an artist like Dannii who has been in the public eye for 20 years. I hope the changes i have made can give the article a GA as i feel it deserves it. Thanks Peter2012 29, January, 2007.
- The article is a good bit shorter. I will consider renominating it. TheKillerAngel 20:05, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] GA on hold
Goodrem was born on November 9, 1984 in Sydney, New South Wales to parents Denis and Lea Goodrem and has a younger brother named Trent, the part about the brother doesn't "flow" at alland began piano at ten years of age while taking up singing, dancing and acting lessons. "began piano" began playing?
* successful Australian shows - > Australian television shows, proper wikilink and makes it easier to understand.
Some of the money earned from these roles went towards recording a demo CD.[3]
At the age of thirteen, Goodrem recorded a demo CD of five songs. This is redundant (mentioned above)you could remove the sentence at the top and reword the second to something like - At the age of thirteen, Goodrem recorded a demo CD of five songs, financed with money earned from her work in television etc
Article uses "successful" a lot which is POV, unless backed by a source that it was successful, try limit the use of this wordand Mandy Moore". - fullstop goes inside because it's the end of the quote..[7]. remove the full stop after the referencepremiered on the show and became her first Australian number one and the third highest selling single of 2002.(ref?)In the UK, it reached number three.(ref?)cementing Goodrem's popularity with the general public - POVtopped the ARIA singles chartand reached number four in the UK, reference?and sold over a million copies in Australia alone, three million worldwide. I made a few of the changes. Some sources you might want to check are here: http://www.superiorpics.com/delta_goodrem/ http://www.celebsrate.com/name/Delta+Goodrem/ The first one seems pretty reliable. The second source may not be as reliable based on how it says Delta's height is 1.78 cm (lol that's tiny). But the other data is has seems very specific. TheKillerAngel 21:16, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

- What is the status here? This article's hold period has expired. It appears that the concerns were not met within the alloted amount of time. I will wait for a response for a bit. IvoShandor 07:23, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
- M3tal H3ad is taking care of it and he's a good reviewer so best leave him to it. LuciferMorgan 11:08, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry but i have to fail this, as above the on hold has expired and some things were not met, such as adding references for chart positions, some CD covers lack fair use rationale and all lack a source, some awkward wording - another woman (including socialite Paris Hilton) you say another woman which implies one then you say Paris reword so its either - other woman (including socialite Paris Hilton) OR has been linked to socialite Paris Hilton. Article does have potential though feel free to nominate again once these things are fixed (including the list) and i will likely pass it right away. M3tal H3ad 05:50, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
I have referenced the charity section, extended the intro a bit and fixed up other parts of the article. It should be up for consideration for GA. Peter2012 May 13, 2007.
[edit] Audio samples
This page is looking fantastic at the moment, but it really needs some audio samples of Delta's songs. Could someone who knows how to do this please make samples for - I Don't Care - Born To Try - Lost Without You - Out of The Blue - Almost Here - Together We Are One They are not to be any longer than 30 second samples. That would be terrific. Thanks Peter2012 May 13, 2007.
- Don't worry guys, worked out how to do them today. Hope you like them! Peter2012 May 15, 2007.

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Get this as a featured article?
I've been keeping an eye on this article lately, and I am really keen on working hard to make it a featured article. Is there any place that we can find the criteria that it failed to meet during its previous assessments? Scieri12 (talk) 22:56, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
