[edit] Certified vs. Standard
DeltaV operator interface software runs on standard hardware, not specially certified hardware. I know this from personal experience.
I've set up DeltaV workstations and application stations too, and even though it's standard Windows 2003 Server that you're using, you're not supposed to just head out and install Vista with the latest patches from Windows Update. Emerson is the one who says which OS you're to use, and which patches you're to install. They also seem pretty adamant about you using the Dells they have certified for use with DeltaV. 204.112.165.114 21:57, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
I spoke with Paul at Lakeside, our DeltaV distributor, and he agrees that the hardware and software are both specially certified for the application. Considering we spent $5k getting him up here to make sure we've got the latest certified Windows and DeltaV patches, I'm going to change that piece as soon as I get a clearer picture from Emerson about what that means, and a link to a published document explaining it.207.194.62.42 16:45, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Licenses
Would someone who knows more about DeltaV licenses please add it to the article thanks. Jcdietz03 01:36, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
DeltaV licensing is confusing and changed frequently. As this is a large part of their business model, they make money from over licensing and many restrictions on licensing. Phillipsrhit (talk) 23:47, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] General Comments
I came here looking for the Delta-V related to WebDAV... At the moment, there is (suprisingly) no WebDAV-related Delta-V article; but when there is, disambiguation will most likely be in order:
- RFC 3253 specifies Delta-V (also referred to as DeltaV in the RFC), a Web Versioning and Configuration Management Protocol. (This is the "V" in WebDAV ). See the IETF working group page
- The two other distinct Wikipedia articles which might be included in the disambiguation:
- Delta-v budget - term used in astrodynamics and aerospace industry for velocity change (or delta-v) requirements for the various propulsive tasks and orbital maneuvers over phases of the space mission.
- Delta-v - In general physics, delta-v is simply the change in velocity.
- The following simply redirect to this article ( DeltaV ): Delta V, Delta-V, Delta v
The various redirects should (sooner or later) point to a disambiguation page, probably (at the moment) referring to the 3 articles: the IETF DeltaV, the (current) Delta-V article, and (maybe) the Delta-v budget article. - Michael 07:27, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Interwiki links of this article
I let my bot remove all the interwiki links of this article. The Finnish article fi:DeltaV is about Delta-V (Internet Protocol), and none of the other articles exist. It is generally a bad idea to add interwiki links pointing to non-existing articles, and in this case it might also lead to incorrect linking (as already happened with the Finnish link). --Silvonen (talk) 14:03, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
