Delta Sigma Iota (ΔΣΙ) also known as "DSI" is a college fraternity founded at the Pennsylvania State University on August 15, 2000. Delta Sigma Iota is a South Asian Interest Social-Service Fraternity, taking pride in the cultural awareness and community service of its brothers. Delta Sigma Iota currently has two chapters and two colonies, as well as an active alumni association[citation needed] and a formally elected national board.

Delta Sigma Iota was founded on August 15, 2000 at Pennsylvania State University in order to promote unity, spread truth, value education and integrate South Asian culture into the daily life. The fraternity stresses the importance of culture, unity and academics and continually works to provide the South Asian community as well as elsewhere with assistance in any way possible.

[edit] Expansion

On October 2, 2004, Delta Sigma Iota successfully established its first colony at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, effectively becoming a national fraternity[citation needed]. Less than two years later, on April 6, 2006, Delta Sigma Iota established two more colonies at North Carolina State University and Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.
