Delta

Delta—Richmond East is a federal electoral district in the province of British Columbia, Canada, that has been represented in the Canadian House of Commons since 2004.

Contents

It is located in the Greater Vancouver Regional District, and consists of:

  • the south east part of the City of Richmond,
  • the west part of the Corporation of Delta,
  • Musqueam Indian Reserve No. 4, and
  • Tsawwassen Indian Reserve.

The electoral district was created in 2003 from Delta—South Richmond and Richmond ridings.

[edit] Member of Parliament

Its Member of Parliament is John Cummins, a former commercial fisherman and teacher. He was first elected in the 1993 election. He previously represented Delta and Delta—South Richmond ridings. He represents the Conservative Party of Canada. He was fired as a member on the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans by Conservative Whip Jay Hill for refusing to vote the party line on issues concerning the aboriginal fishery.
