Delsbo

Delsbo is a town (pop. 2,200) in Hälsingland, Sweden, situated in Hudiksvall Municipality, Gävleborg County.

The town is known for its assembly of musicians at Delsbo Ancient Farm (Delsbo Forngård) every year.

Geographically it is situated in the vicinity of the two lakes of Dellen, and no more than 25 kilometers on a highway west of Hudiksvall.

The local dialect is known as Dellboskan. It is a Norrlandian dialect with some Norwegian attributes.

Examples:

  • Hän ä'nt sa ugalin = Det är inte så illa (This isn't bad)
  • dellenbiggda = dellenbygden (The Dellen area)


Delsbo is also known, after a research conducted in 2005, to have the most density of villages in Sweden.

Approximately 104 different villages are scattered around the Delsbo community, ranging from one-person villages too a couple of hundred.
