Delbert Hosemann

Delbert Hosemann, Jr. (born 1947 in Vicksburg, Mississippi) is the Republican Secretary of State for the State of Mississippi. Hosemann received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Notre Dame University in 1969. He then went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi Law School in 1972. He completed his specialization in Taxation at New York University in 1973. Hosemann currently lives in Jackson, Mississippi and is a partner with Phelps Dunbar LLP.[1] He is married to Lynn L. Hosemann, and together they have three children.[2]

In the general election on November 6, 2007, Hosemann defeated Robert Smith (D) to become Mississippi's next Secretary of State.[3] In the Republican primary election on August 7th 2007, Hosemann received 54% of the vote, defeating former mayor of Columbus Jeffrey Rupp and State Representative Mike Lott of Petal. He took office in January 2008.
