Delaware Route 299 is a state highway in New Castle County, Delaware. It runs from Maryland Route 282 at the Maryland border east of Warwick, Maryland to Delaware Route 9 in Mathews Corner, passing through Middletown and Odessa. It overlaps U.S. Route 301 from just east of the Maryland border to the west end of Middletown. It is also concurrent with Delaware Route 15 within the eastern part of the US 301 concurrency.

Delaware Route 299 used to connect to Maryland Route 299 at the Maryland border. However, MD 299 was rerouted onto US 301 to the Delaware border and Maryland Route 282 was extended east to meet Delaware Route 299.

[edit] Route description

Delaware Route 299 heads east from the Maryland border on Warwick Road. Shortly after the state line, it merges onto U.S. Route 301 and heads to the northeast on Middletown Warwick Road. Delaware Route 15 joins in with the two routes, heading from the south on Levels Road, and they head toward Middletown. In the commercial western part of Middletown, DE 15 makes a left onto Bunker Hill Road, US 301 continues straight, and DE 299 makes a right onto Main Street. It heads east, intersecting Delaware Route 71 (Broad Street) in the center of Middletown. It then heads east through new suburban development in the eastern part of Middletown and becomes Middletown Odessa Road. It intersects the Delaware Route 1 toll road at a diamond interchange and heads east into Odessa, becoming Main Street. It intersects U.S. Route 13 in Odessa, which is split onto 5th Street northbound and 6th Street southbound. Past Odessa, DE 299 crosses the Appoquinimink River and heads to the southeast on Old State Road. It then makes a left turn onto Taylors Bridge Road briefly and ends at Delaware Route 9 in Mathews Corner.
