Del Oro High School

Del Oro High School is located in Loomis, California, and is a part of the Placer Union High School District. It was founded in 1958 and currently has over 1600 students attending. Del Oro's mascot is the Golden Eagle. The dropout rate is less than 1%[1], which is below average in California. Many of Del Oro's teachers are return students. The school has a decades long rivalry with neighboring Placer High School in Auburn, CA. And a recent rivalry with Rocklin High School

Del Oro's Division II ranked athletes compete in Football, Basketball, Tennis, Baseball, Cross Country, Water Polo, Track, Soccer, and Wrestling. The varsity football team went undefeated at 13-0 to win the 2005 Sac-Joaquin Section Division II title. In 2006 they went 12-1 and were ranked as the #1 Division team in the NorCal Section.

The drama department, founded by teachers Jeff Johnson and Dylan Holcomb, got its start 3 years ago. Productions by the drama department thus far include "You Can't Take it With You", "Our Town (adaptation)", "Bang Bang", "You're Dead", "And Then There Were None", "The Foreigner", "Noises Off", "The Crucible", and "The Mousetrap". The drama department's first performance took place in 2004. The school received 10 Elly Award nominations, with one win, from SARTA (Sacramento Area Regional Theatre Alliance) for the performances of "The Foreigner" and "Noises Off" in the 2006-2007 school year.
