Del Aire is a census-designated place (CDP) in Los Angeles County, California, United States. The population was 9,012 at the 2000 census.
Del Aire is a tiny unincorporated middle-class residential neighborhood next to the giant interchange where Interstate 405 and Interstate 105 meet. It is surrounded by the incorporated cities of Los Angeles, El Segundo, and Hawthorne. It is bounded by Aviation, El Segundo, and La Cienega Boulevards, and by Imperial Highway. Los Angeles Airport Courthouse and the Los Angeles Air Force Base are in the Del Aire area.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 9,012 people, 2,871 households, and 2,190 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 3,514.7/km² (9,110.7/mi²). There were 2,925 housing units at an average density of 1,140.8/km² (2,957.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 36.97% White, 32.18% Black or African American, 0.64% Native American, 8.08% Asian, 0.80% Pacific Islander, 10.72% from other races, and 5.60% from two or more races. 17.62% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 2,871 households out of which 40.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.2% were married couples living together, 12.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.7% were non-families. 18.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.13 and the average family size was 3.57.
In the CDP the population was spread out with 28.3% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 33.0% from 25 to 44, 20.9% from 45 to 64, and 10.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 100.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.7 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP was $55,186, and the median income for a family was $59,444. Males had a median income of $40,693 versus $34,891 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $20,726. About 3.3% of families and 5.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 3.7% of those under age 18 and 10.5% of those age 65 or over.

In the state legislature Del Aire is located in the 28th Senate District, represented by Democrat Jenny Oropeza, and in the 51st Assembly District, represented by Democrat Curren D. Price Jr.. Federally, Del Aire is located in California's 35th and 36th congressional districts, which have Cook PVIs of D +33 and D +11 respectively[3] and is represented by Democrats Maxine Waters and Jane Harman respectively.
