[edit] elochai redirect
I contested the speedy deletion tag that you had on the elochai redirect to God because I googled the term and found this: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=1006021710312 . I had a short amount of time and I was doing a little new page patrolling. I don't go patrolling much. Royalbroil 22:46, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your userpage
Oh my god! what on Earth are you thinking having a userpage like that? Vandal fighting isn't a game and having a page designed to goad vandals into vandalising your userpage helps the encylopedia how? Take it from someone whose been fighting vandals for a very long time, counters, silly graphics, direct messages to vandals, serve no purpose except to increase the drama and fun for the vandals. Theresa Knott | The otter sank 00:26, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- I'm making the font size smaller. In my other monitor, it's not so big. Reverting vandals and spammer is actually why I'm here. The pictures are valid and being used in many user pages. So far, there is a little increase of vandalism of my userpage. I don't think my userpage will increase vandalism in general. Dekisugi (talk) 00:39, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Reverted EEP? Erlang Enhancement Propoasal?
EEP also stands for Erlang Enhancement Proposal? Why is not at not appropriate? Please explain.
[edit] re: Reverted EEP? Erlang Enhancement Propoasal?
Immediately after posting I wondered if it was a good idea to provide the external link.
I don't have the knowledge to write a worthwhile article on the EEP though, would it be correct to mention it in the disambiguation page, refer to the main Erlang (the programming language) page and link to the EEP from there?
If not, what whould you suggest, given that I'm not the right person to write that article?
Thanks.

[edit] The external link I put is relevant to the topic
I put an external link to the article "List of universities in Indonesia". I feel that the universities listed on the article is very incomplete. Therefore, I put a link to a source which lists universities in Indonesia more comprehensively.
I believe that the link would be useful to anyone who looks for a complete list of universities in Indonesia. Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Budiaman (talk • contribs) 12:29, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Should I just copy the materials right from the source?
Hi!
If I can't put an external link to that list, should I just copy the list to the wikipedia article.
I have to tell that Indonesian government is not too developed in terms of mantaining official website.
You should see that this article "http://id.wikipedia.org/wiki/Departemen_Pendidikan_Nasional_Republik_Indonesia", links to the government's website "http://www.depdiknas.go.id" which is INACTIVE.
So...
CAN I RIP THE LIST FROM http://www.webometrics.info/university_by_country.asp?country=id
AND PUT A LINK TO THE SOURCE?
I am in no way affiliated to the source and genuinely wanted to improve the article for the interest of people looking for information about education in Indonesia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Budiaman (talk • contribs) 12:56, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] External Links to legal Musical Scores/Essays
Hi there Dekisugi !
You've just removed a number of links to legal musical score (i.e. sheetmusic) examples. Example:
- Kurze Schatten II essay (score sample)
They links were placed there for a particular reason:
- to give the reader the chance to examine the music!
Will you please change the things back? Or do you expect me to do that? Dells (talk) 21:19, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
Maby you can give a more extensive/explicit reason than a 2 second copy-paste of "per WP:EL, WP:SPAM and WP:NOT#DIR."??? Dells (talk) 21:24, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
You know, I'll accept it! Some of the score samples on the page Brian Ferneyhough have been there for more than a year: check...
I don't think all of those guidelines are good. (Also, I believe there's nothing wrong with Amazon, and there's nothing wrong with linking in things like ASIN 0195170776.)

You have a poor understanding of what's a sockpuppetting activity. Read WP:SOCK.
1. Many reasons are acknowledge as allowable for operating multiple concurrent accounts. Freely you may do so, just not as a tool of double-voting (so to speak). 2. Usernames will be blocked and the users compelled to take up different names and there is nothing in the nature of a 'sockpuppeting' arrangement about that at all.
Nice try. But I'm afraid it has ended up with me laughing at you for it. Bye. MostPimpBruthr (talk) 11:23, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

- Ah0000000ga has a point. While I agree the image is unencyclopædic and does not appear to add anything at all to the articles in question, it is not being added "randomly". Please, Ah0000000ga and Dekisugi, discuss this further. How, Ah0000000ga, do you think the image imprves the articles to which you added it? Merely adding it "because you can" looks rather like you trying to make some sort of a point. Tonywalton Talk 13:33, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
- No problem. I do agree that it's "unencyclopædic", by the way, and (even on the articles where it was added) only highly marginally appropriate. If it turned up on, say My Little Pony, now - that would be inappropriate. Let's see what happens... Cheers, Tonywalton Talk 15:26, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] An interesting thing in the Signpost
I don't know if you read the Signpost, but there's an interesting thing in this week's edition's In the News section - the study by the University of Minnesota. Apparently The U of M study estimated a probability of less than one-half percent (0.0037) that the typical viewing of a Wikipedia article would find it in a damaged (vandalised) state. Just goes to show that the vandal-fighting is worth it! A PDF is available of the whole study so that'll give me something to read on the train when I go to my family's house tomorrow for Xmas. Happy holidays! Cheers, Tonywalton Talk 00:11, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi!
I absolutely agree with you to delete this article asap. Yet, I was just thinking about an AfD while you tagged the article for speedy deletion. Do you, however, think speedy deletion is justified? Wouldn't an AfD-discussion be better?
--Fromgermany (talk) 12:30, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- The article was already speedy deleted before (see the log). The content is a blatant advertising related to other article he created and because he is a manager of a hotel. I'd prefer CSD rather than discussing at AfD. Dekisugi (talk) 12:37, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] link/ changes to Pharmaceutical company, Spectroscopy, Applied Biosystems, and Laboratory automation
Hi,
I was adding the links in not for search engines or for advertising/ promotion, but if you were to look at the website you will see that I am genuinely trying to provide an online library for un-biased press and news concerning products and equipment in these categories which I feel has relevance for further reading for these topics as external links.
I know these links are useful to others wanting to know more about the products involved in these scientific fields.
I also intend to start up an article library in the near future that I could use to add more reference to Wikipedia itself.
How do i take this further? I am alarmed that I am seen as some shady operator for doing this!
Please comment me back as to why you feel my external references/ links are not good enough or are not relevant to these categories on: www.modern-laboratory.com so then at least I can take this issue up further before I submit anything again.
I look forward to hearing from you, otherwise I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year :)
Pete. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Modlab (talk • contribs) 11:07, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
cheers for that :)
I can see why I look like a spammer at least. But perhaps occasionally you may at least look at the links/ content first off before deleting, as I don't think mine were obviously spam or you could have at least flagged up a warning so I could have done something about it first, rather than deleting me straight away - it could be classed as vandalism! :P
Anyway I'll resubmit everything as a suggestion instead if that helps.

Hi Dekisugi...I'm sorry but I thought that promoting a site that is supposed to be a general service of interest for the readers of those articles was not going to be asumed as spam, specially when it's a free site. I've read more deeply some of the links you gave me and have understood it all a bit better. Anyway I saw in the Geocoded photograph some link to sites like Panoramio or Flickr, online communities like my site, and that made me insert the links... as you may guess I'm quite new to the wikipedia...

[edit] Deletion of the page titled "Terry's law"
This page may meet Wikipedia’s criteria for speedy deletion. The reason given is: This article or other page provides no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. It is patent nonsense (CSD G1).
I created this page because I wanted to point out that certain internet message board discussions are completely and utterly pointless, and wanted to create a companion to Godwin's law which would help counteract the never ending slew of stupid comments from seventeen year old stoners who think the are experts on everything drug related, even though they only ever smoked a joint or two. I really do not see how it is any more "patent nonsense" than Godwin's law, upon which it is based. Why not give it time and see how it fares out? Regarding the "the text is unsalvageably incoherent" comment. Perhaps one of your more verbose admins would like to correct the grammatical errors, rather than insulting those who try to make a contribution. I would also like to point out that this is my first contribution to wikipedia, so some of the links may be missing or may have been placed incorrectly. I apologise if this is the case.

[edit] Regarding "Skydiving" External Links
Dear Dekisugi,
Many of the links that (I believe) you've removed from the "Skydiving" ("Parachuting") entry were useful to those hoping to learn about skydiving. I've reposted two widely accepted and respected resources for skydiving information that you've removed (links to the USPA and dropzone.com).
Skydive Santa Barbara was linked because we frequently prove a great source of detailed skydiving information to those researching the sport. If one hopes to research skydiving, access to professionals in the field seems the best route to take.
I can understand if you hope to avoid an excess of links by deleting those belonging to specific drop zones (though I think it unfortunate and a disservice to those hoping to gather details). But if at all possible, I would like to relink to several other national parachuting organizations (Canada, South Africa, England and so forth) that keep the sport regulated and safe for all skydivers internationally. People can then explore how skydiving differs culturally, and also examine the differences in regulations across borders.
Blue Skies,

[edit] Aftab Ahmed Vohra
Dekisugi ... I see you reverted a number of recent edits to Aftab Ahmed Vohra and nominated this article for deletion via WP:PROD. I have reverted the entire article back to its state in July 2007, which included removing the PROD tag, as explained at Talk:Aftab Ahmed Vohra#Major reversion. This version is substantially unchanged from the version that was taken to AFD in 2006 and which passed through as a 'no consensus'. I am wondering if you would consider withdrawing your deletion nomination to allow the article to re-progress forward from this point for a period of time? Or would you rather I take this to AFD as a 'non-progressed' article for re-evaluation. Note that I was going to convert your PROD to an AFD before I looked at the edit history of the article because articles previously considered at AFD shouldn't be PROD'd (that's one of the PROD-exclusion criteria listed at WP:PROD). If you are ok with my not taking this to AFD in its current state, I would consider that a type of "withdrawn nomination", which happens from time to time at AFD. What do you think? --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 01:03, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello there, I think it's really fantastic that you help to ensure that Wikipedia isn't abused - it's a great resource and I use it all the time to get info. I think you're doing a really important job - if lots of spamming and advertising was allowed then it would really devalue Wikipedia. I've noticed that you've posted a few messages on my user page asking me not to spam. I'm a confused because the links are not identical, they are specific to town guides on the site French Property Links, which I find has very valuable information on many French towns. I think the information I have added to the articles is useful and enhances Wikipedia - I'm certainly not trying to spam. Best wishes, User:Francomaniac 10:38, 15 January 2008

- I've fixed the problem now. I switched from Opera to Mozilla Firefox. Again thanks for your friendly help:) -- TheProf07 (talk) 19:35, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Adminship
Hello again Dekisugi. I was just wondering what you'd think about being nominated for adminship? Would you like it? Are you against it? Personally, i think you deserve at least a shot at adminship. Hope to hear from you soon:) - TheProf07 20:20, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Blocked? For a vandalism-account ony?
- Mmm I'm looking into it. I don't understand the block either. -- lucasbfr talk 11:51, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- I can't believe what i'm seeing here. Dekisugi is committed to the fight against vandalism! This incident may harm his chances of adminship, adminship being something which he clearly deserves! I'm very disappointed with this. Users like me and Dekisugi need all the help we can get in our fight against vandalism. We don't need the admins helping the vandals out! - Now worries, TheProf07. I think there was a mistake of blocking somebody. There was a case of a vandal trying to mimick my username and pretending I was vandalizing. Sometimesa an admin got stressed with vandals and mixed up. Oh, that's why I'd like to decline your offer for adminship at the moment. Also my record shows only vandalism fighting activities. I've not yet any records on serious editing. Perhaps, later, but thanks for offering me. And please let me know if you want to request yours. Anyway, thanks Lucasbfr. This is the first time I saw "I'm blocked!". :-) Dekisugi (talk) 13:13, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
(unindent) By the way, I'm still being blocked, maybe because my IP has not yet been unblocked. So I'll wait for such an explanation from the admin that blocked me. Or shall I put {{unblock}} here? Maybe I should wait until the block expires: This block has been set to expire: 11:40, 25 February 2008.. Dekisugi (talk) 13:19, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- Oops, mea culpa. I confused you with another user. Really sorry about that. I guess the autoblock has expired now. Once again, sorry! utcursch | talk 14:48, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

- Uh oh, I still cannot edit with my IP address = 82.215.32.86. I guess I'll wait til tomorrow. Dekisugi (talk) 15:50, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- Found and lifted the autoblock. Just FYI, if that happens again (and I hope it won't !), our only tool to lift autoblock is doing a ctrl+f on Special:ipblocklist. That's why we usually need the autoblock id (which was #797818 in your case) to find the blocks more easily. Anyway, all should be good now, I'm glad that was sorted out :). -- lucasbfr talk 17:53, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] "You've been reported to the officials"
Hi Dekisugi - I noticed your message on User talk:Bubsisbubs. Can I ask you to reconsider using such messages? Similar templates have been deleted in the past (see this discussion for the views expressed in the past). It might encourage someone to go out in a "blaze of glory" before being blocked, for example. Regards, BencherliteTalk 11:07, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
- hhm... I didn't know such a discussion. I'll reconsider to use it in the future. Thanks. Dekisugi (talk) 12:16, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Recent reversion
Hi Dekisugi. I used Wikipedia recently to look up the word 'dross'. I am new to this but I thought that I could improve the entry a little. I see that my addition has instantly been branded as 'vandalism' and has been removed. I may have made a mistake here but my intention was not to cause vandalism. Is this because I used the word 'rubbish' in my definition? Can anything be done about removing the vandalism 'charge' against me? - Added to revision - I could use a little help here. Will you reply to this message please? The entry I made was reverted in just a few minutes and I sent my original message for help shortly afterwards. This was quite some time ago. [edit] Doctor Who fandom
Hey, I noticed you contributed to the Doctor Who fandom article. I was wondering, because of that, if you might be willing to help edit the page on Fan History about the Doctor Who fandom? Fan History's entry is intended to be a bit more comprehensive and all encompassing as Fan History is a wiki dedicated to documenting and preserving as much fandom history as it can. The Doctor Who article could really use some one familiar with wiki editing and Doctor Who fandom knowledge to make it better. :) If you can help, it would very much be appreciated. --FanHistory (talk) 22:28, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Bangclang
Thanks. I still haven't worked out all the policies on here and was trying to work out how to ban this user due to the constant vandalism. Jasynnash2 (talk) 14:23, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
- You can report him/her to WP:AIAV. Dekisugi (talk) 14:24, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
- Back as Bangclang2 by the looks of it. Are we able to block IPs? Jasynnash2 (talk) 14:25, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
